The outstanding Tom Freeman made it 16 goals in 18 league games with a double which ensured Chirk beat second-place Builth Wells and edged further away from the bottom two.
The Colliers, missing several key players, put in a fantastic performance to gain all three points and make it just one loss in their last six games.
And it was talisman Freeman who fired both goals to give the hosts a stunning victory against a good Builth side.
Tom Freeman fired Chirk ahead on 12 minutes after good work from his brother Niall Freeman.
Builth equalised on 25 minutes through Rhys Thomas and the sides were locked in a tight battle throughout the first half.
Tom Freeman was denied his second on the half hour mark by a great save from the impressive Kham Steventon.
Zac Bebbington pulled off a super stop just before the interval to deny the lively Cairan Price.
Tom Freeman was always a threat on the break as Chirk looked for a winner in the second half.
Steventon denied Freeman his second on 75 minutes with another stunning stop
Chirk lost their keeper Bebbington through injury on 87 minutes. He was replaced by youngster Celyn Woolrich with Caleb Davies taking over the gloves.
Tom Freeman was not to be denied and he raced onto a great through ball from substitute Woolrich to fire home the winner from 35 yards on 89 minutes.
Chirk held on for the remaining 10 minutes of injury time to record a remendous result against one of the title favourites.
Special mention to five of Chirk’s under 17 side who performed admirably when on the field – Dylan Northall, Louie Irving, Alfie Robinson, Ryan Davies-Dowd and Woolrich.
Bow Street 2 Penycae 1
Thomas Rimmer and Courtney Perkins bagged the goals which kept leaders Bow Street on top, Ben Buley with a late response for Penycae.
Brickfield Rangers 4 Llandrindod Wells 0
Lewis Clamp, Steve Watkins, Simon Smith and Jay Richardson were all on target as Brickfield edged up to third with an emphatic win over Llandrindod, Andrew Vale also missing a penalty for the Wrexham hosts,
Dolgellau Athletic 2 Llanidloes Town 0
Dolgellau moved up to second after an Osian Morris pair, including a penalty, saw off the Daffs at Cae Marian.
Kerry 1 Llangollen Town 1
Mark Hughes’ 18th minute goal put Kerry in front, but 10-man Llangollen salvaged a point through Ben Wilson’s leveller with 84 gone.
Louis Middlehurst was red-carded for the visitors on 57.
Llanfair United 1 Llanuwchllyn 2
Master marksman Meilir Williams banked a crucial win for Llanuwchllyn with goals on 51 and 55 minutes, the second a penalty.
Williams is now on 36 goals in all competitions and 24 in the league after his latest heroics.
Josh Astley pulled one back for Llanfair on 58, while the visitors had Mike Pritchard sent off for a second yellow card in added time.
Rhos Aelwyd 2 Llansantffraid 1
Rhos trailed 1-0 at half time, but fought back after the break to beat Llansantffraid with goals from Dyfan Thomas and Evan Davies.
The visitors had Jay Brownfield sent off for a second yellow after 79.
