Bangor 1876 1 Airbus UK 7

Leaders Airbus were in seventh heaven after condemning 1876 to a record defeat in a competitive match.

It was a fifth Cymru North game without a win for the blues, while the Wingmakers maintained a four-point lead at the summit following a fifth victory on the bounce.

Mark Allen’s side wasted little time in imposing themselves on the game.

Straight from the kick-off, they broke down the left and Danny Warren side-footed a cross by James Davies into the net from close range with only 11 SECONDS on the clock.

After this early blow, Bangor forced several corners. From an inswinger taken by Joe Culshaw in the eighth minute, Telor Williams was twice denied by some last-ditch defending.

Shortly afterwards, visiting goalkeeper Keighan Jones saved well at the feet of Mason Blackwell-Jones as he broke into the box.

Just after the quarter hour, Bangor had another chance. Williams crossed from the left but Corrig McGonigle couldn’t find the target with a header at the back post.

Barely a minute later, a shot by James Barry was almost deflected past his own goalkeeper by an Airbus defender.

Airbus continued to threaten when they attacked and after 25 minutes Carl Jones did well to tip over a powerful 25 yard shot by George Peers.

However, a minute later Bangor were level. Cai Powell-Roberts played in a low from the right that enabled McGonigle to score from close range.

In the final minute of the first half, Airbus regained the lead. A ball through the middle allowed Warren to run on and dribble past Carl Jones before rolling into the net.

The home defenders appealed for offside but the goal was given.

HALF-TIME: BANGOR 1876 1-2 AIRBUS

Airbus continued to press after the turnaround and scored their third after 53 minutes when Peers curled the ball past Jones from the edge of the box.

Tall defender Joshua Stevenson soon made it 4-1 following a corner.

Just before the hour, Warren hit a shot from 25 yards that Carl Jones did well to parry. On 63 minutes, however, the prolific Warren completed a hat-trick with a composed finish after showing neat footwork on the edge of the box.

After 65 minutes Jordan Evans broke forward and scored with a powerful shot from 20 yards to make it 6-1.

Keighan Jones produced some good stops to deny 1876 a consolation before on 87, Jordan Evans took advantage of defensive indecision to break through the middle and score the final goal.

Colwyn Bay 3 Buckley Town 1

After taking an early 3-0 lead, Bay had to play the whole of the second half with 10 men, but held out to secure a home win over top four rivals Buckley Town in front of a Friday night crowd of 740.

Two goals from Craig Linfield and one via Jamie Cumming saw a blistering start by the Seagulls before Cai Owen received a straight red card right on half-time.

The Seagulls were in front after only four minutes, Lindfield scoring from Joe Williams’ right wing cross.

Cumming then gleefully added a second on 10 minutes, heading home from a left wing corner, before Lindfield got his second after 14 when he out jumped Buckley keeper Ryan Goldston to get his head to cross.

Lindfield was unlucky not to get his hat-trick when his shot from 25 yards came back off the crossbar.

Bay suffered a setback just before half-time when Cai Owen was red carded after an altercation with Buckley right back Adam Smith, who escaped with a yellow.

The second half was about the 10 men digging in to protect their lead and Rhys Williams made a good save to keep out a free kick before Bradley Knight pulled a goal back for the visitors on 62 minutes.

Buckley, who had four players booked, were unable to make any further inroads into Bay’s lead and Cumming went close to scoring a fourth for Bay.

Gresford Athletic 0 Flint Mountain 7

Mountain rose to fifth place after a second 7-0 win in their debut Cymru North campaign.

It was a third victory in four league outings for Aden Shannon’s side.

The visitors struck first on eight minutes through a familiar source – Mike Hayes with his 11th league goal of the season.

Jack Sconce made it 2-0 after 20 minutes before he provided his second assist for Rocco Hewitt to score his first.

Hewitt netted again on 28, Joe Holt with the set-up, to make it 4-0 for the in-command travellers at half time.

Three goals in the final 20 minutes added the icing on the cake and a cherry on top for the Mountain.
Sconce completed his double before chalking up a hat-trick of assists when Sam Rockall made it 6-0.

And Hayes turned provider in the 90th minute as Luke Johnston rounded off the scoring.

Ruthin Town 3 Mold Alexandra 0

A most welcome first win in eight league matches for Ruthin was achieved thanks to goals from Llyr Morris (2) and Josh Evans.
