Ardal North West: Win over NFA puts Trearddur into-the top five

Bay edged up to fifth spot with a victory over an NFA side they also knocked out of the Welsh Cup in September.

Goals from experienced campaigners Joe Chaplin and Les Davies sealed maximum points for the Anglesey outfit at Bryn Du.

Trearddur started strongly with Davies and Chaplin causing problems for the visiting defence early on.

It was Chaplin who gave the home side the lead on 16 minutes, finishing well into the bottom corner after receiving a lovely through ball from Dewi Thomas.

Bay kept their foot on the gas and a nice move between Jake Roberts and Sion Edwards down the left side resulted in a scramble in the box. Thomas was the provider again but this time Davies scored with a cheeky back-heel from close range – his first goal since September but 13th of the season.

The Rhyl-based visitors refused to lie down and created some chances of their own in the closing stages of the first half, but the score remained 2-0 at the break.

NFA made a triple substitution at the interval and started strongly. James Lansdowne was unlucky not to get one back as his effort clattered off the crossbar on 69 minutes.

As NFA committed bodies forward it opened up gaps for the hosts and Josh Stanley Williams was close to scoring on his debut, but was stopped by Phil Williams in the NFA goal.

More chances came for the Beachboys but none were taken. A resilient last 15 minutes from the defence ensured the clean sheet was preserved for the full 98 minutes and it finished 2-0.
