Denbigh Town sign high quality young keeper with impressive CV

REPORT: OLLIE BEECH
Denbigh Town Football Club have announced the signing of a young goalkeeper with top flight experience.
Elijah Beattie, 21, joins the Cymru North club from Meliden where he has appeared 15 times this term in all competitions.
Beattie came through the academy at Rhyl and Prestatyn Town before picking up JD Cymru Premier experience with Flint. After time with the likes of Meliden and Kinmel Bay he arrives at Central Park.
“When the opportunity came to join a club like this it was a no-brainer,” said Beattie.
“I’m looking forward to stepping up to play under Dewi and especially with this group of lads.”
Manager Dewi Llion added “We’re really pleased to bring Elijah into the squad, this feels like the right time for him to step up to the JD Cymru North after getting some great experience under his belt.
“He’s been involved as a backup in the Cymru Premier with Flint before playing regularly for Meliden and Kinmel Bay and is a great fit to come into the group. He’s young and looking to progress which is exactly what we’re about”.
Beattie began with Rhyl and later Prestatyn in the development squads before featuring on the bench for the latter in the JD Welsh Cup at the age of 17 before doing so again three days later in the Cymru North.
In 2020 he signed for Cymru Premier outfit Flint Town United featuring in their squad in the top flight seven times. He switched to Lock Stock Ardal North-West side St Asaph City in 2021 making his senior debut against Rhuddlan in the Welsh Cup.
After making two appearances for the Saints he moved on to Kinmel Bay where he played 33 times in his first regular season, keeping six clean sheets. He went on to sign for Meliden in the summer of 2023 making 45 appearances and keeping 11 clean sheets for the Miners.
