JD Cymru North: Saturday wins for Mold Alex, Gresford Athletic and Guilsfield

JD CYMRU NORTH – DECEMBER 28
FINAL TABLE OF 2024

Mold Alexandra 2 Flint Mountain 1
Mold ended a run of four league games without a win and edged back up to fifth spot with a hard-fought victory over Flint Mountain at the MKH Stadium, Alyn Park.
Both sides went close in the early stages.
For Alex, Owen Cordiner almost scored off keeper Reece Thompson’s clearance, but the ball cannoned off target.

Flint then threatened from a goalmouth scramble, but the hosts somehow managed to clear off the goal-line twice.
The deadlock was broken in first half stoppage time – and what a goal it was.
Emmanuel Lawal crossed from the left, Dafydd Griffith headed on and Matty Lewis scored with an absolute missile of a volley.
It was a good job the net was there to stop the ball, otherwise it may have ended up in Treuddyn.

Both teams had opportunities at the start of the second half, Cordiner rounding the keeper but unable to force the ball on target.
In the 70th minute, the hosts did manage a second. A Lewis long throw into the box was back-headed by big defender Griffith and the ball found the net.
Mountain hit back on 79 with an unstoppable Mike Hayes strike – his 10th league goal this term – but despite late pressure which included a frantic goalmouth melee, the equaliser would not come and Mold held on for three points.
Caersws 0 Gresford Athletic 1
Charley Edge notched the all-important 61st minute goal from a Toby Gallagher-Keenan assist which secured three crucial points for Gresford.
Guilsfield 4 Penrhyncoch 2
Captain Jamie Hyne was a hat-trick hero for the home side in their victory at Clos Mytton.
Callum Bromley was also on the mark for Guils, Daniel Owen and Niall Coleridge replying.
