Earlier in the season, we chose 12 players to watch in North Wales senior football during 2024-25.
Let’s do a progress check on our selectionsβ¦..
Richard Hillier-Evans (Rhos United)
The Panther is in the Pink!
Seven clean sheets in 11 league matches and the usual quota of penalty saves.
Undefeated Rhos United are flying at the North Wales Coast East Division One summit and while the goals scored are piling up, they are also rock solid at the other end, much of that being down to the excellence of Hillier-Evans.
James Stevens (CPD Y Rhyl 1879)
Eighteen appearances, two goals and six assists so far for this skilful young wide-attacker in a Rhyl side which has breathed new life into their Ardal North West title quest in recent games.
Stevens has been used mainly as a substitute of late, but he has such great potential and hopefully this will be reached at the Hops and Barley Stadium.
Mason Blackwell-Jones (Bangor 1876)
Has been ‘Mr Consistency’ for 1876 in the Cymru North this season.
Fourteen league appearances and eight goals so far for a dynamic 22-year-old who continues to be a big favourite among the Bangor fans.
Jenson Wold (Bow FC)
Eighteen-year-old talent has impressed mainly for Bow Development so far with five goals in 12 league matches.
Has also appeared for Bow’s first team in the Welsh Cup, FAW Amateur Trophy, Cookson Cup and North Wales Coast East League Premier Division.
Jacob Jones (Kinmel Bay)
Top scorer in the NWCFA Development League East with a magnificent 21 goals in 12 games, his tally including four hat-tricks.
Nineteen-year-old ace has also scored for Kinmel Bay’s first team in the tier 4 North Wales Coast East Premier.
Pascal Gomez (Connah’s Quay Town)
Has not scored during Town’s recent slump, but is still an attacking player very much to watch in tier 3 Ardal North West.
Gomez has notched seven goals in 13 league appearances and is on 10 from 19 outings in all competitions.
Andy Vale (Brickfield Rangers)
With 23 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions for Bricky, Vale is one of the players of the season across North Wales football so far.
A key figure in a Rangers side shaping well in Ardal North East, he has notched 12 league goals and 11 in the cups.
Elis Williams (CPD Y Felinheli)
One of the most dynamic young performers in tier 3 so far this season.
Aged just 18, Elis has netted 15 goals in 16 matches for Y Felinheli, scoring 10 in Ardal North West.
Owen Herbert (NFA)
Ever-present for an NFA side which has made such a fine start to life in the tier 3 Ardal North West.
Has also impressed for the Rhyl-based club’s under-23 team in the FAW Reserve League North East.
Ryan Jakovlevs (FC Queen’s Park)
Following the recent demise of FC Plas Madoc, this 17-year-old dazzler has moved to Queen’s Park and hit four goals in his opening two matches.
Shone in front of goal for Plas Madoc’s senior and under-19 teams before the first XI resigned from the North East Wales League Premier.
Noa Hughes (Bethesda Athletic)
Another major success story over the opening five months of the 2024-25 campaign.
Nineteen-year-old Noa has grabbed a tremendous 25 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions for runaway North Wales Coast West Premier leaders Bethesda.
Has bagged three hat-tricks for a team full of goals.
Calum Thomas (CPD Gaerwen)
Has knocked in 14 goals in 16 matches for a Gaerwen side which has often made a positive impact in league and cups this term.
Calum, 17, is joint third highest marksman in the tier 5 North Wales Coast West Division One standings.
Definitely one to watch in 2025.
