Clwb y Mis/Club of the Month for November are perhaps an unexpected choice, but a worthy one!

Holywell United had a November to remember

We are going against the grain slightly and awarding Clwb y Mis/Club of the Month to a lower-tier team who have enjoyed a magnificent November.

Holywell United of the tier 5 North East Wales League Championship Division are our latest choice after a month where they have amassed 33 goals in four wins – all away from home!

Some may argue the standard of some teams Holywell have beat are not the highest, but to be fair United are a pretty new outfit themselves and to win four successive games on your travels and net that many goals takes some doing.

Purely on form, the natural selection for November would have been Airbus UK Broughton – played 5, won 5, 18 goals scored, just two conceded, top of the Cymru North and into the Welsh Cup last 16.

But let’s allow some sentiment into the equation.

So good are the Wingmakers this season, it is likely they will be regular contenders for Clwb y Mis for the rest of the campaign. Their time will come again. They also win Cymru Leagues awards regularly.

With all due respect, perhaps Holywell United might struggle to have another month as good as November (stats-wise at least – although they might prove me wrong) so it seems right to recognise one of the newer and most enthusiastic clubs of North Wales football right now.

After all, Grassroots North Wales does stand for the underdog. Every team is as important as the next in our eyes.
