Support the future of Holy Island football on Friday evening

Come out and support the future of football in the Holyhead area on Friday night.

Holyhead Hotspur Under-17s will host Trearddur Bay Scorpions Under-16s in a Holy Island derby at the New Stadium, kick-off 6.30 pm. This will be a Gwynedd Under-17 League fixture.

The Hotspur U17 side will be managed by Si Thomas, Derek Thomas, Mark “Yo” Owen and new arrival Scott Hakesley, who recently left Trearddur Bay where he ran the highly promising young Development team.

The aim is to take the Under-17s into reserve team football next season.

In his previous role as Trearddur Bay Development manager, Hakesley guided the team to a league cup success in their first season and built a title-challenging team who are currently top of the NWCFA Development League West.

He enjoyed many successes as a player, playing for Northampton Town from the age of 10 to 16, and later representing Gwelfor, Trearddur Bay and Morawelon.

A Hotspur spokesperson said: “We believe this is a great acquisition not only for the under 17s but for the club as a whole, with this appointment helping us towards our ultimate goal, which is developing young local talent in a local team.”
