MATCH REPORTS – NOVEMBER 9
Trearddur Bay 1 Porthmadog 0
Sion Edwards evoked fond memories of his many crucial career goals when his deadly free kick in the 84th minute clinched a fabulous win for Trearddur Bay which sent Porthmadog tumbling to their first league defeat of the campaign.
The 37-year-old former Bangor City legend curled a perfect left-footed delivery from the right touchline beyond everyone and into the net off the post.
By all accounts, this match was far from a classic.
In the third minute, visiting keeper Ollie Farebrother had to palm away a deep cross before Port’s midfield dynamo Cai Jones suffered a nasty head injury in an aerial battle with Thomas Taylor and had to be replaced by John Littlemore.

Soon after, Farebrother had to be alert to stop a shot on his line which was fortunately straight at him before Sion Williams for Port latched on to a good through ball before his attempt went just over the bar.
Minutes later, Farebrother pulled off a very good save to his left from a strong half-volley by the determined Stevie Jones.
Just before the break, Littlemore linked up well with Rhys Alun, but the former’s looping header lacked the power to trouble Carl Jones in the hosts goal.
The second half was a somewhat disjointed affair with the few snatches of quality provided by the Beach Boys.
Edwards’ late decider ensured just about the right result was reached.
Conwy Borough 1 CPD Llannefydd 3
Ethan Hill handed Conwy a 17th minute lead, but Llannefydd bounced back to take the win with Mathew Jones levelling before the break and a Harry Kirkham own goal and sub Llion Morris’ strike settling things in the second period.
Llangefni Town 4 CPD Y Felinheli 1
Aled Williams, Cameron Jones, Osian Jones and Harry Hughes notched the goals which in the end made it an emphatic victory for Cefni.
Felinheli were level at one stage when top-scorer Elis Williams’ 15th goal of the season made it 1-1 after 31 minutes.
Llanrwst United 1 NFA FC 1
Good point on the road for NFA, Oliver Hansen giving them an 11th minute lead before Julian Williams, who earlier missed a penalty, equalised on 37 minutes.
CPD Pwllheli 3 Nantlle Vale 1
Goals from Jack Jones, Marcus Banks and Steffan Toplis secured Pwllheli three points at The Rec, Llion Griffiths responding for the visitors.
St Asaph City 2 Menai Bridge Tigers 2
Well done to Menai Bridge for picking up a first point in 12 attempts since they joined Ardal North West.
Even more commendable was the fact the Anglesey side clawed back a two-goal deficit to earn the draw.
Harvey Drazdauskas and Jake Walker scored in the first half to hand Saints a 2-0 interval lead, but Callum Thomas and Kurt Hellfeld struck three minutes apart before the hour to ensure a 2-2 finish.
CPD Y Rhyl 1879 2 Connah’s Quay Town 0
Dylan Proctor scored on 24 and 68 minutes to earn 1879 a well-deserved win over Town which lifted them into second spot.
This match was reported on in detail by Grassroots North Wales on Saturday.

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTHERN LEAGUE CUP
Corwen 1 Holyhead Hotspur 0

Sam Henry’s 86th minute goal settled this replayed tie in favour of hosts Corwen.
Holders Hotspur knew a victory would set up a second cup tie against Trearddur Bay within a week.
Holyhead are due to host Bay this weekend in the Welsh Cup and the winners of last Saturday’s clash faced the prospect of a trip to Trearddur in the League Cup on November 23.
Midway through the first half, Corwen’s Tom Williams was through on goal, where he forced a diving save out of goalkeeper Guto Hughes.
At the opposite end, Tomi Llywelyn was thwarted by the feet of Tyler French.
A minute later, Llywelyn sent a looping header over French, but Harry Strong was on hand to clear off the goal line.
Early on in the second period, Henry Evans’ strike was tipped over by Hughes.
On 55, Corwen were awarded a penalty kick, which Sam Henry hit towards the bottom corner; but Hughes guessed correctly, and was able to make a save.
As the tie entered the last 20 minutes the away side thought they had broken the deadlock as the ball was headed home from a corner; however the referee had already blown up for a foul.
Soon after, Llywelyn was bearing down on the Corwen goal and was able to get a shot away, which whizzed across the box and hit the far post.
Four minutes from time came the decider.
The referee played advantage after a foul in the middle of the field, which allowed Sam Henry to get through on goal, where he slotted beyond Hughes and into the back of the net.
Hotspur put pressure on the home defence in search of an equaliser to force a penalty shootout, but it was not to be.
