Record goalscorer Asa Thomas’ next club confirmed

As Grassroots North Wales correctly forecast last month, prolific striker Asa Thomas has joined Gwalchmai following his recent departure from Trearddur Bay.

The North Wales Coast West League Premier Division high-flyers, who play at Maes Meurig, are currently fourth in the table and poised for a title challenge.

The addition of Thomas will only make them stronger.

Thomas, 33, has netted an all-time North Wales record 722 senior goals in all competitions across seven clubs dating back to his debut season of 2007-08.

Tier 4 Gwalchmai will become his eighth Ynys Môn club. He has only ever represented teams from the island.

Thomas’ previous clubs were Trearddur Bay, Morawelon, Holyhead Town, Holyhead Gwelfor Athletic, Bodedern Athletic, Holyhead Hotspur and Gaerwen.

Gwalchmai have just released the following message on social media: “Gwalch can confirm that Asa Thomas has joined today coming over from Trearddur Bay. As a club we are delighted to get this one done as plenty of clubs had interest in the prolific forward. A brilliant transfer for Craig Evans to boost his team with more quality.”

Thomas’ move to Maes Meurig will mean he is reunited with fellow goal machine Marc Logs’ Evans.

The pair netted 126 goals between them in Bodedern Athletic’s tier 4 title-winning side of 2021-22. The partnership was restored briefly at Trearddur Bay in 2022-23.
