ARDAL NORTH WEST

Connah’s Quay Town 3 NFA FC 2

Pascal Gomez scored the winner for Connah’s Quay Town

What a turnaround!
After Connah’s Quay Town regular goalkeeper Dan Cooper was injured in the warm-up, 44-year-old assistant-manager Steve Hopkins bravely agreed to take the gloves.
By half time, Quay were 2-0 down to fellow high-flyers NFA and staring down the barrel.
However, enter Welsh Premier League legend Jamie Reed to score twice and bring the game level before the in-form Pascal Gomez completed the turnabout with an amazing winner.
Anyone who may have questioned Town’s ability to remain in the Ardal North West leading pack were well and truly answered at Deeside Stadium.
Visitors NFA, themselves so impressive to date in their debut Tier 3 season, took a 16th minute lead through Cammron Morris before sub James Lloyd made it 2-0 close to the interval.
Seven minutes into the second half, Reed halved the deficit and soon added another to make it all-square.
Quay were rampant now and Gomez’s sixth goal in four games and 10th of the season on 65 minutes ended up the decider.

Corwen 4 Trearddur Bay 3

Corwen celebrate their 97th minute winner. Pictures and report: GAVIN BILLINGTON

Debutant Calyn Spencer made himself an instant hero with the Corwen fans after bagging the winner against Trearddur Bay in the seventh minute of added time.
The home side were 3-2 down at the 90-minute mark only for two stoppage time strikes to turn things Adam Galdo’s team’s way.
This battle of Tier 3 promoted clubs saw Corwen take a ninth-minute lead when great work from Meirion Williams allowed Tom Williams to be played in. Williams cut through the Bay defence before slotting the ball into the far bottom corner of the net.
The away side looked for a leveller, and went agonisingly close in the 15th minute when a shot bounced on the Corwen goal-line before being cleared.
Toby Jones went close before a 25th minute corner was collected by Dion Donohue, who whipped the ball back into the Corwen box, where a bullet header from Tom Taylor levelled the scores.
In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Toby Jones played the ball across to Stevie Jones, who lashed into the back of the Corwen net with the last kick of the half to make it 2-1 to the islanders.
The Anglesey side went 3-1 up in the 73rd minute when recent signing and substitute Shaun Cavanagh ran down the wing with the ball before cutting inside and going beyond a Corwen defender, then blasting into the far corner of the net.
Corwen wasted no time in getting a foothold back into the game, as within two minutes Scott Evans powered home a shot from distance.
Four minutes past the 90, it was 3-3 when Tom Mann crossed and Oliver Crimp was on hand to head home.
The late leveller did not deflate the visitors, who went in search of a winner; however Tyler French produced a brilliant low save to deny Cavanagh from close range.
French then launched the ball forward to Mann, who released Spencer to slot in the decider,

Menai Bridge Tigers 1 Conwy Borough 2

Goals from Charles Lloyd and Macsen Rhys-Williams won the day for Borough and left Menai Bridge still without a point.
Kurt Hellfeld replied for the Anglesey hosts before half time, but all the second period delivered was a red card for each team. In the 47th minute, Leon Owens was dismissed for the hosts and James Etherington walked for the visitors.

Nantlle Vale 0 Llangefni Town 2

An uplifting win on the road for Cefni thanks to first-half net-finders from Ifan Mansoor and Josh Stanley-Williams (penalty).
In the second half two red cards were shown – Nantlle’s Math Jones and Cefni’s Jamie Thomas both sent off on 90 minutes.

Porthmadog 2 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 1

Gareth Thomas’ final game in charge of Rhyl ended in a disappointing, yet spirited defeat.
Dylan Proctor gave the Lilywhites a third-minute lead, but Danny Brookwell levelled on 43.
