Nomads manager thrilled over the prospect of hosting Wales’ finest in Adran Trophy
Connah’s Quay Nomads manager Jordan Parry is looking forward to what promises to be his team’s biggest-ever test when they take on mighty Cardiff City in the Genero Adran Trophy next month.
Sunday, November 10, with a 2 pm kick-off at The Poppies 3G is the date, time and venue for the Genero Adran North side’s last 16 meeting with the current treble holders.
Iain Darbyshire’s Cardiff won the domestic treble of Adran Premier title, Welsh Cup and Adran Trophy for the first time in the club’s history last season.
To progress in this term’s Trophy, they will need to get past the challenge of a young and ambitious Nomads outfit.
Quay chief Parry said before the draw, in which his team was assured of landing a Tier 1 side, that he was looking forward to pitting his wits against a top class opponent. And they do not come any bigger than City.
Asked about his feelings on the November 10 clash, Parry said: “I’ll never fear opportunities to play against the level above, However this one is another level again.
“To see what Iain has done at Cardiff can only incentivise anyone in the women’s game to emulate or get close to it, I have the utmost respect for him and the team.
“Reaching the pinnacle of being the best team in the country is something I’d love to do long-term, To test yourself against a team who play regular Champions League football every season isn’t something to be nervous about, but excited – and this is what this group are.
“The girls can’t wait and We have no choice to be up for it, I have no doubt the game will pose its challenges with the quality they have but so do we, It’s an occasion we look forward to but it’s not as important as our next game and that’s Rhyl away next Sunday, Step by step this season and not to look to far ahead.”
