FAW AMATEUR TROPHY ROUND TWO REPORTS – OCTOBER 5

Trearddur Bay 5-0 Penmaenmawr Phoenix

Despite having to play the best part of an hour with 10 men after the dismissal of top-scorer Les Davies, Trearddur Bay claimed a comfortable victory over a Phoenix outfit which had previously lost just once in 12 games this season.

Tier 3 Bay versus fourth-tier Penmaenmawr had the potential to be one of the ties of the round, and it took almost half-an-hour for the deadlock to be broken, Davies setting up Joe Chaplin to score.

In the 35th minute, the Beach Boys was reduced to 10 when Davies was shown a straight red card.

Far from this setback making Trearddur struggle, the opposite happened as the Anglesey men were 4-0 up by half time.

Dewi Thomas doubled the lead on 37, Dion Donohue made it three after 43 from a Toby Jones assist and Thomas set up Chaplin for his second in added-on time.

The second half brought a number of changes from both sides but just one more goal, Sean McCaffery on target in the 81st minute.

The tie remained 2-1 until the 73rd minute when Osian Hughes benefited from another Todd assist.

Noa Hughes rounded things off with a penalty eight minutes into stoppage time.

Connah’s Quay Town 3-2 Kinmel Bay

Pascal Gomez struck twice for Ardal North West high-flyers Town, who were given a great battle by tier 4 underdogs Kinmel Bay.

Gomez made the breakthough just a minute before half time, but soon after the restart Jordan Bellham brought the North Wales Coast East Premier visitors level.

Just four minutes later, George Davies restored the home advantage, Lewis Hodson with the assist.

Gomez made it 3-1 on 79 with his sixth goal of the campaign, but Connor Morris caused a late stir by reducing the deficit to one after 88.

Town held on for the victory and Kinmel team-manager Leon Field received a second yellow card.

Llanidloes Town 2-1 Bow FC

Llannefydd 3-2 Cefn Albion

It was anyone’s game before Turner struck.

Mochdre Sports 2-3 Bow Street

Jamie Whitney’s 88th minute goal saw tier 3 Ardal North East leaders Bow Street through, but only after Mochdre Sports from a league below gave them a real battle.

Rhys Hughes netted twice in the first half for Bow, but Chris Smyth hit back for the North Wales Coast East Premier Division hosts to make it 2-1 at the turnaround.

Josh Grimshaw equalised a minute into the second half, and it was take-your-pick until the favourites struck late.

Mynydd Isa 2-0 Four Crosses

Second half goals from Nathan Mendoza and Sam Wainwright ensured Mynydd Isa are one of two flag-bearers for the North East Wales League in the last 32.
