BUTE ENERGY WELSH CUP ROUND ONE – SEPTEMBER 22, 2024

Amlwch Town 1 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 6

Laura Williams was a four-goal star as Rhyl roared into the next round of the Welsh Cup with a 6-1 away caning of Amlwch.

After four straight losses to start the season – including a NWCFA Challenge Cup defeat at Amlwch which now has to be replayed – the Lilywhites needed a result like today’s to start turning the tide.

Tier 3 hosts Town took a fourth-minute lead through Cerys Gadd, but Rhyl hit back on seven when Sade Benjamin set up Eleanor Thomas for the equaliser.

Williams notched her first after 25 from a Rachael Thomas assist and Eleanor Thomas turned provider for Jasmine Mollatt’s debut first team goal on 26.

Laura Williams took centre stage in the second half, making it 4-1 before completing her hat-trick on 54 via a Chelsea Evans assist.

Williams made it a half-dozen for the tier 2 Genero Adran North visitors in the 81st minute.

CPDM Bangor 1 Llandudno 7

Ruthless Llandudno continued their goal-packed start to the season with a magnificent seven at Bangor City Stadium.

The visitors were in command at half timw with a 4-0 lead, Mia Roberts, Ella Jones, Erin Doran and Kelsey Davies with the goals. Assists were shared between Jones, Doran and Caitlin Hadaway.

After the break, Ella Jones notched her second, Angharad Jones made the scoresheet and Gwen Roberts grabbed number seven. Kelsey Davies produced all three assists.

Carys Parry delivered Bangor’s sole reply, Cadi Jones with the assist.

Denbigh Town 2 CPD Pwllheli 5

Player-manager Erica Jones was on the mark for Pwllheli

Lois Thomas was on target twice as Pwllheli ran out winners against a hard-working Denbigh outfit.

Player-manager Erica Jones handed Pwll a third-minute lead and Thomas added a second on 12 before Lowri Claybrook missed a penalty for Town with 18 gone.

The hosts kept themselbes right in the contest, though, when Vanessa Hodgeson pulled one back after 24 to make it 1-2 at half time.

Two goals early in the second half, courtesy of Magi Hughes and Thomas, all but sealed the game for the away side, although Ceri Purvis did keep home hopes alive with a 52nd minute second.

Eirwen Ann Williams sealed it for Pwllheli with a 77th minute strike.

Kinmel Bay 3 CPDM Y Felinheli 3 (Felinheli won 4-1 on pens)

What a performance from hat-trick hero Amy Chesters

Surely the northern tie of the day took place at Y Morfa.

Kinmel Bay led through Amy Chesters, but two goals in quick succession from Fflur Williams and Hana Wellings (pen) gave Felinheli a 2-1 interval advantage.

When Williams made it 3-1 to the Genero Adran North favourites early in the second half, it looked grim for Bay, but the hosts battled back magnificently with a Chesters double, making it a hat-trick for the forward and 3-3 on the day.

Both sides had late chances to win it but penalties were necessary and Felinheli won the shoot-out 4-1.

In depth report to follow on Grassroots North Wales,

Llanfair United 0 Connah’s Quay Nomads 2
