Hat-trick of age cat wins for the Road Runners at Conwy Parkrun
Report by Don Hale
https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com
Three North Wales Road Runners won their respective age categories last Saturday morning at the Conwy Parkrun amongst a good turnout of nearly 300 visiting club and social runners.
Richard Scamans was first NWRRC member home in 20th place and 3rd VM55 in 21 minutes and 44 seconds, with Steve Roberts 24th in 21.57 and 1st VM55.

Club entries were down this week with just eight starters at the RSPB Nature Reserve due to either runners recovering from last week’s races, or preparing for other fixtures, but the results included: – Harry Driscoll 29th overall and 2nd SM20 in 22.33, whilst Hannah Griffith won her VW50 in 57th place in 25.19.
Rob Fryer won his VM70 cat after finishing 76th in 26.08, and Don Hale was 114th in 28.05 and 2nd VM70.
Meanwhile, veteran John O’Shea ran well despite a slight injury in 132nd place in 29.18, and was 4th VM65 cat.
Rachel Morris was probably glad to finish after suffering with heavy legs from her gallant efforts from last week at the Great North Run, and from her on-going marathon training, including a tough 8-mile Saturday training schedule, but she bravely recorded a time of 40.50 in 259th place.
First finisher at Conwy Parkrun was Leo Loughran on course debut in 17.30, with David Clarke 2nd with a new PB in 18.11, and Chris Benson, another debutant, 3rd overall in 18.23. The first female was junior athlete Catrin Evans JW11-14 (14th overall) in 21.06, whilst Catherine Davies ran a new PB in 2nd place (37th overall) in 22.58, with Mia Williams 3rd (and 44th overall) in 24.11. 283 finishers in total.
