No joy for battling underdogs in the Natty

TUESDAY’S RESULTS – NATHANIEL MG CUP ROUND THREE

Aberystwyth Town 3 Llandudno 2

Heartbreak for Llandudno as a potential major giant-killing ended up in a dramatic loss.
The Cymru North strugglers had performed marvels to lead 2-1 at Cymru Premier side Aberystwyth until the 89th minute.
Niall Flint gave Aber a 28th minute edge, but Dan Jones pulled the visitors level with a screamer on 36.
In the 56th minute, the underdogs took a shock lead when Adam Stephens applied a quality finish.
Luca Bennett almost made it 3-1 when he ran through on goal, but was denied by a superb Sebastian Osment save.
Aberystwyth applied heavy pressure in the final quarter, but Tudno held on until sub Jonathan Evans made it two-apiece in the 90th minute.
No more goals and Llandudno would have had a chance to progress on penalties. Five added minutes were indicated, but the clock showed 98 when Evans blasted into the top corner for the decider.

Airbus UK Broughton 0 The New Saints 1

Saints scraped through thanks to a goal in first half added time from Adrian Cieslewicz.
Cymru North leaders Airbus gave a great account of themselves against the Cymru Premier champions, but it was not to be.
It got tougher for Airbus when after 67 minutes they had George Peers sent off for a second yellow card.
However, it remained 1-0 and the numbers were evened up when TNS’ Oliver Blayney was shown a straight red after 85.
Despite their best efforts, there was to be no late equaliser from the Wingmakers.
Keighan Jones produced some tremendous stops in the Airbus goal, but the home side also had their attacking moments.

Bala Town 2 Holywell Town 0

Hussein Mehasseb’s goals on 45+1 and 79 minutes put Bala through to the next round at the expense of the Cymru North champions.

Connah’s Quay Nomads 3 Caernarfon Town 2

Elliott Dugan’s 76th minute winner ensured a young Nomads side advanced after a close battle with fellow Cymru Premier foes Caernarfon.
The Canaries led twice in the first half through Adam Davies and Daniel Gosset, but the Quay levelled each time before the break via Dan Roberts and Luca Hogan.
