You’d better Adam and Eve it – Hold is a true Welsh Cup hero!

No-one has been able to ‘Hold’ him back this season and now he’s landed a prestigious award!
Penmaenmawr Phoenix winger Adam Hold has been selected as the Player of the Round for the JD Welsh Cup QR2.
The 25-year-old scored twice and also grabbed an assist as his side – who play in the fourth tier – triumphed 5-2 against third tier outfit Pwllheli to reach Round One for the first time in nine years.
Hold was fouled on the edge of the box in the eighth minute, with James Hobson stepping up to score the resulting free-kick and open the scoring.
And Hold doubled Penmaenmawr’s lead 10 minutes later with a superb scissor kick from a tight angle, before his through ball set up Daniel Williams to make it 3-0 by the half hour mark.
After Pwllheli had pulled two goals back and Hobson grabbed his second, Hold rounded off the scoring with the best finish of the afternoon in the 79th minute – a stunning overhead kick which flew into the top corner.
The victory was even more special for Penmaenmawr Phoenix, as it came on the day of the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
Aaron Keating’s side will host another third tier side in Round One, Llanuwchllyn.

Hold spent several productive seasons with the now defunct Llandudno Albion before moving on to CPD Y Rhyl 1879 in 2023-24 and later Conwy Borough.
He became Phoenix’s first signing of the summer this year and what a capture he is proving to be.
‘Hold’ your glasses and raise them for amazing Adam!
And not wishing to tread on the FAW’s toes, but Grassroots North Wales also hails Adam Hold as our Player of the Month for July and August after a flying start to the campaign in which he has netted five times in his last three matches.
