Sixty-six entrants, representing the best players from teams in the respective four divisions of the Clwyd Bowling League, each with an allocated handicap, gathered on the two greens of East Parade Bowling Club last Sunday.
All competitors had one clear aim, to become one of eight players to reach next week’s final round. To achieve this however, three successive qualifying rounds had to be won, no mean feat!
After six hours of very competitive bowling, eight finalists eventually emerged.
From Green 1, Gareth Hughes, Craig y Don, Dave Philip, St Asaph A, Keith Woodcock, Rhos Park B and Hazel Griffiths, Dyserth A, ‘Last 8 Lady,’ proved worthy representatives for their clubs.
From Green 2, Garth Evans, Sunny Rhyl A, Gary Morton, East Parade B, Philip Holmes, Highbury A and Ivor Davies, Copperfields, Ffynnongroew also did their home clubs proud!
These eight qualifiers will now contest President’s Final Day to be held at Rhos Park Bowling Club on the second Sunday of September 2024. For further details including exact start time please refer to the Clwyd Bowling League website.
Finally, particular thanks are expressed to the membership of East Parade Bowling Club for very successfully staging this prestigious event!
