Airbus UK Broughton are well and truly off to a flyer in 2024-25. Their dynamic form makes them the Grassroots North Wales Clwb y Mis/Club of the Month for July/August 2024.

Mark Allen’s Wingmakers have been unstoppable and early signs suggest they will be big contenders for a return to the Cymru Premier.

The signing of Danny Warren from Mold Alexandra is already paying dividends, the prolific striker on eight goals so far.

The likes of George Peers, Sam Baker and James Davies are also knocking in their share.

A number of teams have shone early in this current campaign, but we think Airbus are most worthy winners of the July/August award.

Brickfield Rangers (Ardal North East)

Played nine, won nine, goals scored 37, conceded 14, top of tier 3 Ardal North East League with a 100 percent record, progression in three cups.

Gareth Wilson’s Brickfield side, who have switched to Ardal North East from West this season, have been in magnificent form from day one.

Numerous players have started the season well for the Bricky, top-scorer Andy Vale among them with 13 goals in all competitions.

CLOSE CONTENDERS

Kinmel Bay (North Wales Coast East Premier Division)

Undefeated since start of season – eight wins and a draw, and that was a fine 0-0 away to high-flyers Penmaenmawr.
Tier 4 Bay have knocked third-tier Penycae out of the FAW Trophy and recorded win doubles over quality sides Bow and Meliden.

Llangollen Town (Ardal North East)

A magnificent eight wins in nine matches, their only defeat coming unexpectedly at Penycae on August 27.
Great cup victories over CPD Y Felinheli and Cefn Albion.

CPD Llansannan (North Wales Coast East Premier Division)

Seven wins, a draw and just one loss since the end of July.
Only defeat came at home to holders Gwalchmai in the NWCFA Intermediate Cup on August 31.
Top of tier 4 North Wales Coast East Premier on goal difference and undefeated.

CPD Porthmadog (Ardal North West)

Unbeaten since the start of the season with six wins and a draw.
Sitting proudly at the summit of tier 3 Ardal North West and enjoyed a superb victory at Rhyl 1879 in the Ardal North League Cup on August 31, coming through on penalties despite competing for over an hour with 10 men.

Broughton United (North East Wales League Championship Division)

Brand new team this season who are really making waves.
They have won eight out of nine matches and sit top of the tier 5 Championship Division with just a single loss on their record.
Broughton pulled off a magical 4-1 win over T4 Premier Division leaders Mynydd Isa in the NEWFA Challenge Cup and have piled up 50 goals in just nine games across all competitions.

Penmaenmawr Phoenix (North Wales Coast East Premier Division)

Phoenix have gone eight matches without defeat since the start of 2024-25.
They have advanced in the FAW Amateur Trophy, NWCFA Intermediate Challenge Cup and the Welsh Cup, where they celebrated a memorable 5-2 victory over Tier 3 CPD Pwllheli in the last round.
A tremendous 7-0 victory over neighbours Llanfairfechan Town was another highlight, as was a 5-0 beating of a highly-regarded Cerrigydrudion side in the Intermediate Cup.

NOTABLE MENTIONS

Tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier sides Bethesda Athletic, Gwalchmai and Cemaes Bay are all unbeaten in the league, their only losses coming in the Welsh Cup.
Rhos United – five straight wins in the Tier 5 North Wales Coast East Division One, only beaten in the FAW Amateur Trophy and Welsh Cup by tier 3 Llanrwst United.

SPECIAL MENTION

CPD Gaerwen of the tier 5 North Wales Coast West Division One have won two and lost two in the league, but sensationally have defeated two third-tier clubs in Llanfair United and Rhos Aelwyd in the Welsh Cup to earn themselves a visit to T3 Llangefni Town in round one.
