NETBALL: Latest reports from the Hogan Gwynedd a Môn Summer Netball League

Arfon Ladies hold a handy lead at the Division One summit after the latest round of matches in the Hogan Gwynedd and Anglesey Summer Netball League.

Last week’s results included a 26-17 victory for Arfon over Dolgellau which gave the table-toppers a six-point advantage.

Canlyniadau Adran 1 Div Results – Wed, Aug 14

Menai Mavericks 23-19 Pwllheli Panthers
(5-5; 10-9; 15-12; 23-19)

Second-place Mavericks produced a big second half performance to defeat fellow high-flyers Pwllheli Panthers last Wednesday.

The Anglesey side led just 10-9 at half time, but won the third quarter 5-3 and the last 8-7 to claim the honours.

Walis Bryncoch 33-28 Fflamau Brynrefs
(6-5; 16-12; 24-22; 33-28)

Bryncoch were always ahead in this exciting encounter, but only pulled clear by winning the curtain-closer 9-6.

Arfon Ladies 26-17 Dolgellau
(7-6; 13-9; 20-11; 26-17)

Leaders Arfon really turned on the power in the third quarter to see off tricky opponents Dolgellau.

Just four goals ahead at the midway stage, the multiple champions decisively won segment three 7-2.

Dyffryn Ladies 35-19 Tîm o Walis
(8-4; 20-8; 26-14; 35-19)

Dyffryn always had the upper hand in this contest.

Penygroes Primos 31-23 Bethesda
(6-6; 13-11; 23-16; 31-23)

Bethesda put up a great battle in the first two quarters and trailed just 13-11 by the halfway point.

Primos then got on top, taking the remaining sessions 10-5 and 8-7.

Wariars Walis 15-28 PYG Kittens
(5-6; 9-11; 12-20; 15-28)

This one was very close in the opening half, but Kittens turned up the heat in the third and fourth to win quite convincingly in the end.

Bethesda Bach 10-29 Blaenau Ffestiniog
(3-10; 7-16; 9-21; 10-29)

Blaenau’s lead was never threatened in this battle of the quarries.

Rebals Refail 24-27 Pwllheli Hustlers
(5-7; 13-15; 16-23; 24-27)

Hustlers inflicted a first defeat of the season on Rebals Refail and joined them on the same number of points at the top of the table.

Pwllheli were always ahead, but it was the third quarter. which they won 8-3, where the game was really decided.

Rebals took the last 8-4, but were too far behind to affect the result. Brilliant advert for the league.

PYG Cats 41-20 Genod Walis
(10-3; 20-8; 32-15; 41-20)

The Cats well and truly got the cream in this tussle.

A pretty clear victory in the end for Primos.

(9-6; 16-10; 21-15; 29-20)

Comfortable for Arfon, but Fflamau did well to draw the third quarter 5-5 and were never overwhelmed by the leaders.

Pwllheli Panthers 24-29 Dolgellau
(9-4; 13-13; 19-22; 24-29)

Dolgellau again proved what a dangerous side they are as they came up with a strong second half display to outscore the Panthers.

Pwllheli led 9-4 after the first, but were pegged back to 13-13 at half time. Dol took the third 9-6 to lead by three entering the last, which they also narrowly won 7-5.

Holyhead 39-18 Bethesda
(11-3; 22-7; 33-12; 39-18)

Heavy scoring from Holyhead in this one as they chalked up 11 goals in each of the first three quarters.

Bethesda battled back bravely to draw the closer 6-6.

Menai Mavericks 16-39 Walis Bryncoch
(3-8; 5-21; 11-32; 16-39)

Walis Bryncoch were in red-hot form as they defeated their Anglesey opponents by a 23-goal margin.
Cira Williams was a standout player for the winners.

Walis Tomos Parry 29-24 Genod Walis
(8-8; 16-14; 23-19; 29-24)

Jenna Allsup had a brilliant game for a Walis Tomos Parry side whuch toppled their fellow club team by five goals.

Level after the first, WTP held a small 16-14 lead at the interval before winning the final two quarters 7-5 and 6-5 in a close contest overall.

PYG Cats 28-28 Pwllheli Hustlers
(9-3; 14-13; 22-19; 28-28)

Great show from the Cats in holding the now joint-leaders to a draw.

Indeed, it was only a last-quarter rally from Pwllheli which earned them a share of the honours.

Cats took the opener 9-3, but were just one-up by the midway stage after Pwll bossed the second session 10-5.

Cats won the third 8-6, but Hustlers snatched the last 9-6 to force a draw. Superb match.

No stopping Port in this one as they bagged 7, 12, 8 and 10 goals over the four quarters to win by well more than double their opponents’ score.
