Another football club in Wrexham benefits from the Rob and Ryan effect!

What is it about Americans and their attraction to Wrexham football?

Much has been written about famous Hollywood actors Rob McElhinney and Ryan Reynolds’ takeover of Wrexham AFC and the subsequent on and off-field success that has brought the North Wales-based EFL League One club.

However, the USA effect is also now in evidence at one of the city’s lower level clubs.

Tercero, a property redevelopment company with an American owner from Tennessee, Bellevue FC, has become a sponsor of CPD Bellevue.

Based at Court Road, Wrexham, Bellevue is Wales’ first and award-winning, league registered, multi-ethnic and inclusion specific football club.

It offers competitive football opportunities to people from perceived adverse backgrounds and people from backgrounds of social poverty who have faced barriers in sport participation.

It promotes community cohesion and social integration as a means of achieving true equality and diversity, both within sport, and within society. The club is run entirely by volunteers on a not for profit basis.

Back in April, the tier 5 North East Wales Football League Championship Division club put an early call out for sponsors ahead of 2024-25, as unfortunately, being unable to find adequate sponsorship for last season, some of its teams have been playing in kits from last year-and were keen to avoid having to do something similar this term.

Good news arrived recently when Bellevue were contacted by a new Wrexham company called Tercero, who have an American owner.

Having watched the Welcome to Wrexham TV series, the company founder fell in love with the city, and in doing so learned more about it, founded Tercero, a property redevelopment firm focused on Wrexham City Centre and discovered Bellevue FC!

Following several conversations it became clear that both company and club hold similar values.

So, for the 2024/25 season Tercero will be the sponsor of 4 Bellevue FC kits.

The shirts are an update of the most popular former kits of the players and feature the American flag and Draig Goch on the sleeve noting the new-found friendship and shared values.

Club trustee Evrah Rose said: “In watching the news or spending time on social media, it’s easy to feel like the whole world is divided-so it’s great to be able to share this good news story about how our local inclusive team has been helped not only financially, but also in discovering that despite our new friends being over 4,000 miles away, they share our values, respect and belief in what we are doing.”

Delwyn ‘Sheep’ Derrick, founder of Bellevue FC added; “This is a huge moment in our club’s story. We can say with some certainty that there won’t be end of season trips to Las Vegas, or pre-season tours of the United States, but this collaboration is about showing that even with an ocean between us, we are one club, one people and we are united.

If you’d have told me eight years ago that I’d be here today commenting on our new sponsor, I’d have laughed for a week, but this is the true Rob and Ryan effect, the things you don’t see on the documentary that genuinely change lives. We are humbled and incredibly grateful to Tercero.

“We’re always on the lookout for people who would like to join either as a player or volunteer or sponsor so if you would like to speak to one of the club representatives for more information on the club please contact contact@bellevue-fc.cymru and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.”
