173 teams offering football for between 2,600 and 3,100 youngsters – that’s what new junior league will provide

Organisers of a new junior football league believe their under-17 section will be the most competitive age bracket in Wales this season.

Teams from Ynys Môn, Caernarfon and Bangor areas, plus the Llŷn Peninsula will battle it out at U17 level in the forthcoming Cynghrair Pêl Droed Ieuenctid Gwynedd/Gwynedd Junior Football League campaign.

18 teams have signed up for the Cynghrair Pêl Droed Ieuenctid Gwynedd/Gwynedd Junior Football League Under-17 section

The league has revealed 173 teams have registered across all age groups for 2024-25 providing football for an estimated 2,600 to 3,100 young people.

Bangor City Stadium was recently announced as the sponsor for the newly-formed league.

It has been a monumental task to reorganise two area leagues into one cohesive unit, but the big launch is coming soon.

A start date for the new league will be discussed at a management meeting on Wednesday.
