Shropshire Cricket League: Both Chirk sides left frustrated

DIVISION ONE

Chirk 1st XI (9) 248-10 Wroxeter and Uppington (7) 68-3

Match abandoned

Gareth Partridge top-scored with 93 as rain ruined Chirk’s hopes of victory at Holyhead Road last Saturday.

Put into bat, the North Wales side rattled up 248 all out in 39.4 overs.

Opener Partridge shared an opening stand of 56 with Oliver Gough before adding 89 for the second wicket with Liam Walker (38).

Andrew Swarbrick (27) and Nick Flack (26) added useful runs.

Partridge’s innings came off just 68 balls and included nine fours and four sixes before he was run out just seven short of a ton.

The visitors were 68-3 off 15.4 overs when rain caused an abandonment.

DIVISION SEVEN

Cae Glas 2nd XI (8) 120-6 Chirk 2nd XI (12) 138-8

Chirk seconds still lead Division Seven by nine points after having to settle for a winning draw at Cae Glas.

Put into bat in this 30 overs per side contest, the North Walians posted 138-8, Hidayat Haroonkhail best with 47, Connor Bailey 28 and Rhys Evans 23.

The hosts held on for the draw at 120-6, Haroonkhail  3-15 off seven, Evans 2-15 from six.
