DIVISION TWO

Chirk 1st XI (25) 273-6 Shelton 2nd XI (4) 61-10

Both the batting and bowling were high class as Chirk romped to a 212-run victory at home to Shelton seconds on Saturday.

Generously put into bat, the North Wales side amassed 273-6 off 40 overs, the top seven batsmen all making double-figure scores.

Nick Flack led the way with 60, skipper Liam Walker posted 45, Mark Shaw made 34 not out and opener Wynn Jones hit 30. Walker and Flack produced the biggest partnership, putting on 106 for the third wicket.

It was a fine day for Walker as he was also a star bowler when Shelton were blown away for just 61 in reply.

The skipper claimed a career best 5-15 off 5.4 overs, while Matt Lawrenson scooped a superb 5-24 off 11 – his finest return for the first team.

One of those days where everything came right for Chirk.

DIVISION EIGHT

Prees 1st XI (16) 306-9 Chirk 2nd XI (11) 228-7 – drawn

Leaders Chirk seconds had to settle for a draw after hosts Prees belied their bottom-of-the-table status with a huge batting performance.

Invited to bat, the home side concocted a massive 306-9 off 40 overs, Shaun Reynolds the shining light with 140, Haris Imran adding 52.

Chirk’s attack came in for some serious hammering, Arthur Pritchard taking 2-35, Alfie Shaw 2-64 and George Collins 2-78.

In reply, the visitors held on for the draw, finishing with 228-7, Gary Bailey 67 not out, Barry Wilding 38, skipper David Lunt 33 not out and Collins 30, Reynolds 3-48 for Prees.

Chirk seconds still hold a mighty lead of 67 points at the summit with matches running out.
