It was quite a weekend for footballer Seren Williams.

On Friday night, she was celebrated as Top Goalscorer and Top Assist-Maker at her club Kinmel Bay’s annual presentation evening.

Then on Sunday, Seren was named Player of the Tournament at a 10-team women’s football competition hosted by Flint Town United.

There’s nothing like an action-packed summer tournament to get footballers ready for when the ‘real thing’ starts.

And Sunday was a case in point as the Essity Stadium staged a cracking event.

Meet the lovely winners Wirral Phoenix

.
Group 1 comprised: Wirral Phoenix, Connah’s Quay Nomads, Flint Town United, CPDM Bangor and Kinmel Bay.

Group 2 was made up of: Wirral Phoenix Devs, Rhyl 1879, Mochdre Lionesses, North Wales Dragons and Llysfaen Lionesses.

Runners-up Connah’s Quay Nomads

The top two in each group went through to the semi-finals, which saw Wirral Phoenix beat Rhyl and Nomads defeat Wirral Phoenix Devs.

Wirral Phoenix then beat Nomads 4-1 in the final to make it a great day for the impressive visitors from England.

Organisers Flint said after the day’s play: “What a great day we had!! Thank you to all teams that joined.

“Congratulations to our winners – Wirral Phoenix Ladies and a huge congratulations to our player of the tournament – Seren Williams.

“Thank you to all our volunteers who helped make Sunday run so smoothly, we couldn’t have done it without each one of you.”
