North Wales Cricket League Divisions 1-4: Mold win at the double, Boulton hits a ton

NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – JUNE 29
DIVISION ONE
Dolgellau (1) 88-10 Northop 2nd XI (14) 171-10
Northop seconds boosted their lead at the Division One summit to 21 points with an emphatic victory at The Marian on Saturday.
Invited to bat, the Flintshire visitors were in trouble early on at 29-3, but recovered to post a total of 171 all out.
Darren Williams hit an important 54, including six fours and two sixes, Leo Greig made 30 and Chris Brooks 28.
For the hosts, Jack Williamson took 4-26, Morgan Yorke 2-17 and Jaco Oosthuizen 2-32.
In reply, Dolgellau were dismissed for just 88, Lafras Van Vuuren top contributor with 43.
Mark Poynton grabbed 4-18 off 7.1 for the leaders, Darren Williams 2-6 and Tom Sudder 2-12.
Bethesda (3) 68-1 Connah’s Quay (3) 203-8
A match which was shaping into a good contest ended early due to rain.
Quay elected to bat and chalked up 203-6 off 45 overs, opener Joshua Clarke 59 and Brody Camp 57, Ben Parker bagging 3-29 for Pesda, whose reply was cut short on 68-1, Carwyn L Williams 31 not out.
Brymbo 2nd XI (1) 135-10 Mold (14) 140-3
After bowling out Brymbo seconds for a modest 135, Mold went on to record a comfortable seven-wicket success.
Thomas Hankins scored 36 and Ross Roberts 31 as the Steelmen, inserted by the opposition, were all out in the 45th and final over.
George Godwin pocketed 3-27 for the away side, Jon Crane 2-12 off nine, Thomas North 2-22 and Munowar Samsodien 2-24.
Ewan Hill (47 no) and North (36) led the scoring as Mold made it to 140-3 in 26.4, Jack Williams 2-27.
Buckley (3) 122-7 Abergele (12) 245-7

Set a revised target of 161 for victory because of the weather, Buckley finished up 38 short at Lane End.
Abergele opted for first knock and amassed a mighty 245-7 off 45, David Moulson (56) and skipper Lewis Tolond (38) putting on 90 for the first wicket.
Edward Rooney (46 no), Iwan Thomas (26 no), Moinak Pyne (25) and Lalmon TV (23) all made further good contributions, Adam Shaw with a brilliantly economical 4-26 off nine for the hosts.
Bucks had 24.3 overs to reach 161, but could only get 122-7, Ollie Fellows a defiant 49, Toland scooping 3-33 and Moulson 2-30 for the winners.
Hawarden Park (8) 161-7 Conwy (8) 148-10
A rare tie was the outcome as Conwy, set a revised target of 149 for victory, were bowled out on 148.
Asked to bat, Hawarden Park set 161-7 off 45, Aled Wilkinson 41 not out, Tom Norris 29, Owen Skillander 28, Shaun Davies a superb 3-14 off nine for the visitors, Tom Plank 2-27, Graham Meredith dismissing both openers in his 2-42.
Due to rain interruption, the visitors were given 40 overs to make 149. Conwy were one short, when their last batsman perished, so the match ended in a tie – 8 points per team.
Shaun Davies made 32, Patrick Jelley 29 and Blake Stocks 25, Norris 2-20 and James Martin 2-28 for the Park.
Pontblyddyn (12) 146-7 Halkyn (3) 144-8
Opener Gethin Thomas’ unbeaten 71 guided Pontblyddyn to a narrow victory at Alder Meadow.
Winning the toss and deciding to bat, Halkyn set 143-8 off 45 overs, Duane Williams 43 and Nabeel Khan 39, James Hughes an impressive 4-27 for Pont.
The home side passed the finish line in the 44th over at 146-7, Thomas head and shoulders above the rest, while Muhammad Bajwa snaffled 2-18 off nine and Khan 2-39 for Halkyn.

DIVISION TWO
Bersham (3) 125-10 Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (12) 128-6
Opener Amith Thilakarathne’s 51 was the standout effort in Bersham’s total of 125 all out, Gareth Jones best for Pont seconds with 3-15, Fraser Keay 2-22.
In reply, the visitors reached 128-6 to seal a 12-3 points decision, skipper Nick Thomas 40, Dylan Pearn 28 and Dave Evans 26 not out, Venkata Kanyadari 2-16 and Nilanka De Silva claiming 2-23 for the Colliers.
Corwen (11) 134-9 Carmel (4) 131-10
Last pair Richard Hughes and Llyr Jones guided Corwen over the line to a thrilling one-wicket victory at the War Memorial Park.
Visitors Carmel chose to bat and set 131 all out, opener Danny Owens by far the leading run-maker with 55, Simon Harrison 3-14 off eight and Hughes 2-11 from eight for the hosts.
After Rob Storey made 40 at the top of the order, the Corwen innings was touch and go, but Hughes (23 no) and Jones (2 no), plus crucial runs down the card by skipper William Pooler and Liam Thomas saw the hosts to 134-9 in 32.3 overs.
For Carmel, Lee Rowles took 4-26 and Amer Jamil 3-21.
Gresford 2nd XI (1) 144-6 Llay Welfare (14) 145-3
Some good batting from both sides at Clappers Lane, but it was Llay who took the win by a seven-wicket margin.
Gresford seconds decided to make first use of the batting strip and set 144-6 off 40, Sam Burke (55) and Toby Bellis (45) both producing fine knocks.
Matthew Cross shone brightest for the travellers with 4-22 off eight, Dylan Honey pocketing 2-23.
Llay reached 145-3 in 31.5 overs, Jacob Roberts making 55, fellow opener Cross 34 and Jack Honey 32 no.
Llanrwst (2) 158-10 Bangor 2nd XI (13) 160-5

Mehul Ahir produced a tremendous all-round display for Bangor seconds in their five-wicket victory at Parc Gwydir.
The Citizens put the hosts in and the Conwy Valley outfit posted a useful 158 all out, skipper Aron Hughes 41, both Ahir and Matthew Flynn collecting 3-16 for the away side, Callum McCann 2-30.
Ahir then top scored with 58, striking three sixes, as the visitors made it to 160-5 in 37 overs, the in-form Peter Jones adding a fine 39. Owen Booth pouched 3-39 and Trefor Williams 2-43 for the Rwsters.
Mochdre 2nd XI (3) 12-0 Marchwiel and Wrexham (3) 155-7 (30 overs)
Match abandoned early in the Mochdre seconds innings due to rain.
Sam Heard-Edwards made 66 in the leaders’ 155-7 off a reduced 30 overs.

Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (4) 98-7 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (11) 161-9
Set a revised target of 114 for victory in a rain-affected encounter, Connah’s Quay seconds fell 16 runs short.
Skipper Haseeb Hanif Bikya starred with 75 as Park laid down a total of 161-9 off their 40 overs, Hashmat Safi 3-21 and Jake Chare 2-25 for the Deesiders.
Quay’s reply ended on 98-7 off 23.1. Chare 30, Ahmed Javed a brilliant 5-15 off eight for the winners.
Mold 2nd XI (11) 232-7 Bethesda 2nd XI (4) 214-10
Skipper Chris Boulton hit a match-winning 108 for Mold seconds in a refreshingly high-scoring contest at Chester Road.
The hosts elected to bat and set a formidable 232-7 off 40, Liam Roberts adding 55 no, Dylan Hughes 4-38 and Gethin Hughes 2-48 for the visitors.
Pesda were all out for a battling 214, Ashley Rowlands 53, Richard Boldero 46 and number 10 Sopan Patil 42 in a terrific effort from the Ogwen side.
Henry Roberts gathered 3-37 and Craig Roberts 2-22 for the Flintshire team.
Ruthin (11) 172-7 Clwb Criced Caernarfon (4) 109-4
In a game affected by rain, Division Three leaders Ruthin won by just nine runs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.
Put into bat, the hosts made 172-7 from their 40 overs, Matthew Duckworth 50, Sion Hughes 29, Ifan Hanifa 26 and Dafydd Roberts 25, Ian Morgan 2-32 and Monis Altaf 2-39 for the travelling side.
Challenged to make 119 to win off 23 overs, the Cofis finished on 109-4, Altaf a brilliant 72 not out, Jonny Clayton 2-18 for the hosts.
