Osian Roberts rules himself out of the running for Wales job

Ynys Môn legend Osian Roberts has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Cymru national team manager’s job.

Roberts had recently been quoted as hot favourite to take over from Rob Page, who left the role last month.

However, Llangefni man Roberts, assistant to Chris Coleman when Wales famously reached the Euro 2016 semi-finals eight years ago, this evening told followers on social media he did not wish to be considered for the role.

Roberts is currently at Italian club Como, who helped guide into Serie A last season.

This was Roberts’ statement on social media tonight.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and ex-Wales striker Craig Bellamy are among the names currently being considered to replace Page.
