Gwersyllt Park (11) 196-8 Llandudno (4) 194-10
An eighth-wicket stand of 50 between Daniel Jones (33 not out) and Shashika Meistry (25) proved key in Gwersyllt’s dramatic victory over a resurgent Llandudno.
With back-to-back stunning Welsh Cup wins over St Asaph and Mochdre, plus a first league victory of the season recently achieved, Tudno so nearly maintained their impressive streak, but Park had enough in the tank to claim a fourth Premier Division triumph of the campaign.
Put into bat after losing the toss, the visitors were all out for 194 in 41 overs, Divya Pratap Singh top-scoring with 46, Jack Rimmington and Sam Rimmington both hit 32 and Jamie Grimshaw posted 26.
Venumadhav Peram stood out for the hosts, taking 3-20 from nine, Daniel Jones gathered 2-47 and Iroshan De Dilva 2-49.
In reply, Gwersyllt were going really well on 79-1, openers Jake James concocting 47 and Cai Pearson 23, but things looked grim when the home side slumped to 132-7.
However, Daniel Jones and Meistry then put on 50 before the latter departed for 25.
And Jones stayed there till the end, his unbeaten 33 off 27 balls including three fours and a six, seeing the Park to 196-8 off 46 and an 11-4 points verdict.
Oliver Hughes took 2-18 and Grimshaw 2-28 for the visitors, who remain bottom of the standings,
Denbigh (11) 144-10 St Asaph (4) 131-10
Openers James Du Toit (49) and 14-year-old debutant Umer Farrukh (37) laid the foundations for a cracking Denbigh win at Ystrad Road.
The pair put on 82 for the first wicket, and while no other batsman made double figures, the home total of 144 all out off 33.2 overs proved enough to win the day.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Denbigh’s one and two performed really well, De Toit’s knock including including seven fours and a six, while Farrukh’s 44-ball effort involved six boundaries.
Danny Ryan scooped 4-32 for the visitors, William Norman 2-16 and Dan Evans 2-29.
With the batting quality at their disposal, Saints would have been regarded by many as favourites to produce the 145 needed for victory, but it was not to be.
Nathanael Scott made 40 and Duncan Midgley 29, but much like the Denbigh innings there were just two significant contributors.
Asaph were sent packing for 131, Sam Lewis 3-16, Joe Lewis 3-33 and Andy Clarke 2-30 for the buoyant hosts.
Northop (14) 123-3 Gresford (1) 191-8 – revised victory target
Northop moved up to second after reaching the 123 needed to win off a reduced over allocation due to rain.
Invited to bat, Gresford set a decent 191-8 off 50 overs, skipper Matthew Thompson 45 and Chris Mullock 35.
Ashraf Nawab picked up a marvellous 4-20 off 10 and Andrew Oates 3-22 for the hosts.
Rain enforced a new target for the home side and they made it to 123-3 in just 22.3, Peet Pienaar starring with 66 not out off 69 deliveries – nine fours and a six- Matthew Mullarkey adding a vital unbeaten 26 off 25 balls.
Pienaar and Mullarkey put together an unbroken stand of 68 for the fourth wicket.
