NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – JUNE 22

DIVISION TWO

Bangor 2nd XI (14) 200-6 Corwen (1) 124-8

Peter Jones led the charge with a season’s best 88 not out as Bangor seconds comfortably saw off Corwen at Ty Newydd.
Jones’ superb effort came off 76 balls and included 11 fours, forming a major part of the Citizens’ total of 200-6 off 40 overs.
Liam McCann added 35 and shared in a stand of 71 for the third wicket with Jones.
Corwen were limited to 124-8 off their overs quota, Steff Lloyd best with 47, while Bangor veteran Gareth Edwards returned tremendous figures of 4-9 off eight, Ollie Dawson 2-20.

Bersham (2) 156-10 Marchwiel and Wrexham (13) 162-4

Skipper Sam Shoemark hit an impressive 81 in leaders Marchwiel and Wrexham’s six-wicket success at Bersham.
The hosts won the toss and elected to bat, recovering from a treacherous start to set 156 all out from 40 overs.
Number seven Venkata Kanyadari top-scored with 63, skipper Jonath David next highest on 36.
Matt Lawrenson stood out for the visitors with 5-14 off seven overs.
Openers Shoemark and Gareth Evans (50 not out) did the most damage in response as Marchwiel and Wrexham reached 162-4 in 28.3, Nilanka Da Silva 2-29. Shoemark passed 500 league runs in 2024.

Carmel and District (15) 168-9 Gresford 2nd XI (0) 46-10

Amer Jamil claimed a stunning 5-4 off 5.5 overs as Carmel’s bowlers made light work of removing Gresford seconds’ batting line-up at Pen-y-Gelli.
The home side chose to bat and notched 168-9 off 40 overs, Daniel Sim 29, number 10 bat Jamil 27, skipper Ben Sim 23 and Jonathan Fisher 21, Jess Jones nabbing 3-30 and Owain Walker 2-24 for the visitors.
Gresford seconds were then blown away for 46 in 20.5, opener James Griffin a defiant 24, Jamil’s five-for well-backed by Connor Hughes with 4-16.

Llanrwst (11) 146-4 St Asaph 2nd XI (4) 126-10

Aron Hughes made a half-ton for Llanrwst

Half-centuries from Stefan Horan and skipper Aron Hughes, followed by three-wicket hauls for Alwyn Williams and Nic Bould, did most to deliver victory for Llanrwst at Parc Gwydir.
The Rwsters posted 146-4 off 40 overs, Horan (52) and Hughes (51) putting on 97 for the second wicket before Bould added an unbeaten 24.
Iwan Roberts snapped up an excellent 2-7 off eight for Saints, Ankush Upadhyaya bagging 2-11 from five.
Asaph’s reply ended on 126, Roger Cloete 59, Alwyn Williams 3-5 off eight, Bould 3-27 and Caron Williams 2-23 for the Conwy Valley victors.

Menai Bridge 2nd XI (12) 174-8 Llay Welfare (3) 145-10

Bridge seconds’ total of 174-8 off 40 overs proved enough for victory, Cefyn Owen (47) and Andrew Wannop (30) the leading contributors, Dylan Honey grabbing 3-25, Nathan Humphreys 2-13 and Jack Honey 2-22 for Llay.
In response, the Wrexham area side were dismissed for 145, Humphreys 37, David Wright 33, David Owen 3-34 and Phil Smith 2-18 for the islanders, who collected the points 12-3 after a 29-run win.

Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (1) 141-8 Mochdre 2nd XI (14) 143-2

Finlay Jones cracked a crucial 66 not out in Mochdre seconds’ crushing eight-wicket triumph at Alder Meadow.
After opting to bat, Pont were restricted to 141-8, skipper Dave Evans with another fine knock of 51, Jones 3-28 for the travellers.
Mochdre made it to 143-2 in just 27.3, Jones’ unbeaten 66 comprising seven fours and two sixes and sharing in an unbroken third-wicket combination of 60 with Owen Opie (34 no).
Zack Coverley earlier made 34.

DIVISION THREE

Pwllheli (13) 203-9 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (2) 141-7

Fifteen-year-old Harri Adams produced a great performance with bat and ball as Pwllheli outplayed a useful Hawarden Park seconds outfit at Parc Bodegroes.
Put into bat, the Llŷn Peninsula side rattled up 203-9 off 40, Craig Edwards 38, Omar Ahab 32 not out, skipper Ioan Jones 30 and youngster Adams 29.
For the visitors, V Kumar pocketed 4-43, Matthew Gentry 2-25 and Haseeb Hanif Bikya 2-27.
Adams then took 3-39 and Ben Cowper 2-22 as the Park were limited to 141-7, Bikya 40, James Taylor 32 no.

Bethesda 2nd XI (0) 69-10 Gwersyllt Park 2nd XI (15) 72-1

Michael Griffiths picked up 4-7 in 6.1 overs for a Gwersyllt Park seconds team which sent Pesda packing for just 69 at Parc Villa.
It proved a good decision for the Wrexham area outfit to insert their Ogwen hosts, Ryan McCarthy also taking 2-17, Ben Griffiths 2-20 and Josh Marshall 2-22.
Gwersyllt eased to 72-1 in just 12.2 overs for a maximum points victory, Shashika Meistry 40.

Buckley 2nd XI (14) 127-2 Denbigh 2nd XI (1) 124-10

Gary Mayers

Captain Gary Mayers’ commanding unbeaten 54 guided Buckley seconds to a convincing eight-wicket victory over Denbigh seconds at Lane End.
Joe Hogg (3-23), Danny Sprake (2-7), Mathew Edge (2-20) and Jack Gibson (2-26) all bowled well as Bucks sent the visitors, who decided to bat, packing for 124, skipper Josh Jones 30.
Bucks cruised to 127-2 in 28.2, Mayers impressing most with his half-ton, Sam Evans 24 no, while William Schrimshaw pouched 2-18 for the losing team.

Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (1) 86-10 Conwy 2nd XI (14) 167-8

Philip Davies played a captain’s innongs of 60 as Conwy seconds romped to a 14-1 triumph at Central Park.
Calling the coin correctly and opting for first knock, the visitors chalked up 167-8, Carwyn Thomas (37) and Toby Watson (36 no) providing good support to the skipper.
Davies and Thomas put together a 107 partnership for the first wicket.
Liam Cappiello collected 2-14, Jack Griffiths 2-22 and Hashmat Safi 2-26 for the Deesiders, who were then all back in the hutch for 86, Griffiths a spirited 33 no.
Ben Callow snared 3-14, Luke Stedman 3-19 and Alex Price 3-49 for the away side.

Ruthin (13) 204-6 Halkyn 2nd XI (2) 138-10

Table-toppers Ruthin hold a 19-point lead at the summit following Saturday’s 66-run victory over Halkyn seconds.
Skipper Jamie Hughes (50) and Ted Evans (30 no) were the leading run-getters in the home side’s effort of 204-6 off 40, Sam Hamilton 2-27 for the Flintshire travellers.
Halkyn were bowled out for 138, Callum Ferguson 35, Dylan Wilson 33 and Will Baker 31, Jac Evans 3-42 and Oliver Jones 2-29 for the winners.
