Young talent shines brightest at Genero Adran League football awards
Bangor, Llandudno and Wrexham all had reasons to celebrate at the recent Genero Adran League annual awards.
Teenage star Menna Evans of CPDM Bangor was a very popular choice as Young Player of the Season in Genero Adran North, whose overall Player of the Season was Maddie Williams of champions Llandudno.
Wrexham had a great debut campaign in the Adran Premier, finishing third, and one of their best performers, young Lili Jones. also landed a top award.
The 18-year-old was named Adran Premier Young Player of the Season – a very competitive category where she was up against Cardiff City treble-winning pair Eliza Collie and Molly Kehoe.
Genero Adran North Young Player of the Season – Menna Evans (CPDM Bangor)
Bangor enjoyed a solid first season in the Adran North – and Menna Evans is a player that truly stood out.
The 18-year-old netted six goals in 12 league matches and scored eight times overall in 18 games across all competitions.
Her scintillating speed and exciting forward play won her many admirers, good performances against Llandudno and Connah’s Quay Nomads proving she can mix it up with the league’s best.
Genero Adran North Player of the Season – Maddie Williams (Llandudno)
A second Adran North title in three seasons for a player who has netted 62 goals in 67 appearances for a club she joined in 2021-22.
In a Llandudno team which piled on the goals all season, Williams stood out as not only a scorer, but also a creator.
Twelve goals and 10 assists is a great return for the forward.
Was also named in the Adran North Team of the Season.
Genero Adran North Manager of the Season – Jordan Hadaway (Llandudno)
First season as manager for a 22-year-old who was also boss of the Llandudno men’s team he guided to safety in the Cymru North.
Assisted by Billy Fuller, Jay Davies, Sarah Colville and Clare Colville in the ladies’ management team, Hadaway celebrated a Tier 2 league title at the first attempt with 13 wins in 14 matches, 80 goals scored and just 18 conceded.
Genero Adran Premier Player of the Season – Lili Jones (Wrexham)
While a stunning long range goal against Swansea City was arguably the highlight of her season, Wrexham fan Lili Jones had a stellar year for her hometown club.
Operating as an integral link between the defence and attack she contributed seven assists in 2023-24.
The 18-year-old performs like a player beyond her years – surely a full Welsh international in waiting.
Genero Adran North Golden Glove Award – Catrin Beech (CPDM Y Felinheli)
The 2023-24 season saw the Caernarfon teenager keep five clean sheets in the league and nine in all competitions.
The 18-year-old has won the NWCFA Women’s Challenge Cup in successive seasons with Felin, also helping guide the team to a brilliant third place in the Adran North last term.
She made her senior debut for Felinheli in February 2022 and has been regular first team keeper virtually ever since, making 47 appearances for the senior side across league and cup, as well as regularly representing the under-19s.
Special Recognition Award – Norma Samuel
Awarded posthumously following Norma’s sad passing earlier this year, this award recognised the incredible impact that she had on Taffs Well and the wider Welsh football landscape.
Norma broke down barriers in a male-dominated sport, helped drive the club forward and inspired those around her. Her legacy will be felt for years to come.
