Celebration time – 2023-24 season JD Cymru Leagues award winners

It was a night to remember when the 2024 FAW National League Awards were given out in Cardiff last Saturday.

The event, held in association with Morgans Consult, took place at the Mercure Hotel, with players and managers recognised across the JD Cymru Leagues.

Winners were decided by a public vote and independent panel.

JD Cymru Premier Player of the Season – Sion Bradley (Caernarfon Town)

What a way to bow out as a Caernarfon Town player for Sion Bradley!
The Blaenau Ffestiniog dazzler rounded off an amazing campaign for the Canaries by winning JD Cymru Premier Player of the Season.
The 26-year-old produced some tremendous goals and performances, starring as the Cofis qualified for European football for the first time.
He scored a superb third goal for Town as they whipped Penybont 3-1 in the Europa Conference League playoff-final.
Consistently capable of producing moments of magic and decisive contributions, Bradley also scored the winning goal for Cymru C against England C in March.
Grassroots North Wales recently revealed that Bradley will join Cymru Premier full-timers and current champions The New Saints for the 2024-25 season.

JD Cymru North Player of the Season – Elliott Reeves (Flint Town United)

Has to be the signing of the season in North Wales football?
Reeves burst into Tier 2 of the Welsh pyramid like a Derby-winning greyhound from the traps as his 30 league goals in 29 games inspired Flint Town United to runners-up spot in the Cymru North and promotion to the top-flight Cymru Premier after a season’s absence.
Four goals against Mold Alexandra, a hat-trick versus Llanidloes Town, a last-minute winner in the league opener against Prestatyn Town and many more golden moments besides, it’s been a great debut season at the Essity Stadium for the forward.

JD Cymru North Manager of the Season – Johnny Haseldin (Holywell Town)

Johnny Haseldin achieved his biggest feat yet as Holywell manager, leading the club to their first-ever Tier 2 Cymru North title.
The Wellmen only dropped nine points all season, with their sole defeat coming to Airbus in December.
They ended the season magnificently, as they won 18 of their final 19 games, to march their way to the title.
Haseldin brought in some great signings, none more so than Jamie Breese, who arrived at the Achieve More Stadium in January and proved a key figure in the championship triumph, netting 17 goals in 16 appearances.

JD Cymru North Young Player of the Season – Josh Lock (Denbigh Town)

Made a tremendous impact at Denbigh Town after arriving on loan from The New Saints.
He played double the number of games that he did last year and also doubled the number of league goals that he’s scored (10) to help Dewi Llion’s side to a sixth-place finish in their first season back in the JD Cymru North.

Special Recognition Award – Norma Samuel

Awarded posthumously following Norma’s sad passing earlier this year, this award recognised the incredible impact that she had on Taffs Well and the wider Welsh football landscape.
Norma broke down barriers in a male-dominated sport, helped drive the club forward and inspired those around her. Her legacy will be felt for years to come.
