NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS

DIVISION ONE

Saturday, June 1

Brymbo 2nd XI (1) 212-4 Bethesda (14) 213-2

Carwyn L Williams passed 6,000 first team runs for Bethesda with his 14th career century for the club in Saturday’s tremendous win at Brymbo.
Winning the toss and deciding to bat, the Steelmen set a formidable total of 212-4 off 45 overs, opener Joss Roberts scoring an outstanding 101 not out, Oliver Sheldrake adding 50.
Roberts and Sheldrake concocted a partnership of 116 for the third wicket.

Pesda skipper Williams played the dominant role as he put on 68 for the first wicket with Richie Parry and 55 for the second with Nicholas Parry (23).
Then came a match-winning third wicket stand of 90 with Ben Parker (47 no), Williams ending on 112 not out. An eight-wicket win for Pesda, who finished on 213-2, points 14-1.

Abergele (2) 107-10 Connah’s Quay (13) 174-10

Veteran Darren Leach claimed a stunning 5-19 for a Connah’s Quay side which won comfortably at Pentre Mawr.
Put into bat, the visitors were dismissed for 174, Brody Camp best with 31, while Lalmon TV collected 5-33 for the home side.
Gele could only muster 107 all out in response, Lalmon TV 34, Leach 5-19 from 7.2 and Camp 4-32.

Buckley (14) 182-3 Pontblyddyn (1) 181-7

Wicket-keeper and opener Rocco Franco recorded his second first team ton in Buckley’s convincing success over Pontblyddyn at Lane End.
Invited to bat, Pont set a decent 181-7, Ben Mackriell 64, Louis Parry 2-19 and Lee Taylor 2-35 for the home team.
Franco then took centre stage, scoring 100 not out including 13 fours and five sixes, as Bucks reached 182-3 in 35.2 overs.

Conwy (4) 173-9 Mold (11) 177-9

Mold edged a thriller by four runs at Bodlondeb.
Inserted by the opposition, the visitors chalked up 177-9 off 45 having been 13-3 early doors, Thomas North 56 and skipper Isaac Allen 37 not out, Guto Davies 3-17 for the hosts.
Having been 130-4 in reply, Conwy finished up 173-9, Daniel Davies 75 and captain Jonathon Davies 32, Munowar Samsodien 2-15 and North 2-41 for Mold.

Halkyn (12) 192-7 Dolgellau (3) 163-9

Skipper Alex North and Muhammad Bajwa both scored 34 as Halkyn put together a winning total of 192-7 at Pant Newydd, Morgan Yorke 2-37 for the visitors.
Dolgellau were limited to 163-9, Lafras Van Vuuren 46 and Jonathan Lloyd 35, North 3-35 and Bajwa 2-37 for the Flintshire side, Gareth Thomas taking a very economical 1-6 off nine.

Hawarden Park (2) 92-10 Northop 2nd XI (13) 166-7

Leaders Northop seconds were too good on the day for their hosts.
Opting to bat, the away side notched up 166-7, David Foulkes 55 not out and James Roberts 52, Michael Wootton 3-39 for the Park, who were then sent packing for just 92, Sion Ferguson 3-25, Fabio Franco 3-27 and Joe Griffiths 2-3 off six.

DIVISION TWO

Sunday, June 2

Marchwiel and Wrexham (14) 121-2 Pontblyddyn 2nd (1) 118-9

Runaway leaders Marchwiel and Wrexham enjoyed two victories which accumulated 28 points over a bumper weekend.
At Marchwiel Hall on Sunday, visitors Pontblyddyn seconds decided to bat and were limited to a modest 118-9 off 40 overs, Muhammad Ghufran 2-6 and Phil Oddie 2-19 for the hosts.
The table-toppers took just 21.4 overs to reach a winning 121-2 after being 9-2 early on, George Forgrave (69 not out) and Darshana Sanjeewa (43 no) forming an unbroken third-wicket stand of 112 to win the match.

Saturday, June 1

Marchwiel and Wrexham (14) 103-2 Menai Bridge 2nd XI (1) 102-10

Muhammad Ghufran snapped up 4-15 and Darshana Sanjeewa 2-24 as visitors Menai Bridge were skittled out for 102 after choosing to bat, only 46 from number nine John Duffy saving them from total disaster.
Marchwiel and Wrexham eased to 103-2 in just 13 overs. skipper Sam Shoemark 64 not out and Sam Heard Edwards 33 no in a third-wicket stand of 100.

Bangor 2nd XI (11) 173-8 Gresford 2nd XI (4) 161-3

Bangor recovered from a disastrous start to compile a winning total at Ty Newydd.
Calling the coin correctly and deciding to bat, the Citizens were reduced to 8-4 before Wales international Gareth Edwards (55) and Will Banham (50) put on 112 for the fifth wicket.
More useful runs down the order ensured Bangor made 173-8 off 40, Takmer Ali 3-23 and Jess Jones 2-15 for the visitors.
Gresford were restricted to 161-3 in reply, Joshua Knowles 93 and skipper Danny Griffin 49 not out, Callum McCann 2-24 for the hosts, while veterans Peter Jones and Edwards’ eight-over spells cost just 11 and 12 runs respectively.

Bersham (4) 153-10 Carmel (11) 160-7

A close-run contest went Carmel’s way by a narrow seven-run margin.
Put in by the hosts, the visitors set 160-7, Danny Owens 32, Channupalli Sanjeeva Reddy 3-24 and Sathyajith Ihalagama 3-28 for the Colliers, who were bowled out for 153 in 38.4, Maneesha Ayomal Nissanka 53 and last man Loshan Amarasinghe 32 not out.
Amer Jamil claimed 3-13 and Ranjith Appuhamy 3-26 for the victors.

Llanrwst (11) 92-6 Mochdre (4) 79-10

After managing to score only 92-6 off 40 overs, Llanrwst could have been forgiven for doubting whether they had compiled enough runs to win the match, but what they managed was sufficient in the end to take the honours.
Opener Aron Hughes (24) and Nic Bould (21) put on 46 to give the Rwsters, who opted to bat, a steady start, but runs were scarce elsewhere down the card.
Finlay Jones picked up 3-23 and Munim Khan 2-12 for the visitors, who then all ended up back in the hutch for 79, Finlay Jones 23, James Gilman 20, Dewi Parry 4-15, Robert Parry 2-8 and Alwyn Williams 2-20 for the Conwy Valley winners.

Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (1) 114-9 Llay Welfare (14) 115-2

Jack Honey produced a sweet return of 4-20 as Llay romped to a nine-wicket success at Alder Meadow.
Pontblyddyn 2nds posted 114-9 off 40 overs, Jack Honey’s effort well-backed by Dylan Honey (2-18) and Jack Edwards (2-24).
Welfare eased to 115-2 from 25.1, Jack Honey 38 not out and captain Jacob Roberts 37.

St Asaph 2nd XI (3) 145-9 Corwen (12) 193-7

Openers Harry Pooler (67) and Will Roberts (66) put on 121 to hand Corwen a great start at Elwy Grove Park.
The eventual away total was an impressive 193-7, Roger Cloete 2-20 and Ieuan Jones 2-30 for the Saints.
In response, Asaph were kept down to 143-9, Will Roberts 4-15 and Richard Hughes 2-4 for the travellers who pocketed the points 12-3.

DIVISION THREE

Bethesda 2nd XI (1) 61-10 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (14) 159-8

Haseeb Hanif Bikya produced a captain’s innings of 53 which proved vital to Hawarden Park seconds’ victory bid at Parc Villa.
Electing to bat, the visitors built a total of 159-8 off 40 overs, Bikya leading the way, while Dylan Hughes took 3-34 and Gethin Hughes 2-30 for the hosts.
Pesda could only make 61 in reply, skipper Byron Jones a spirited 20, Jack Williams 3-4 off 5 overs, Bikya 2-6 from eight and Owen Ford 2-11 off eight for the Park.

Clwb Criced Caernarfon (13) 154-5 Denbigh 2nd XI (2) 153-7

Grant Peisley’s crucial half-ton played an important part in Caernarfon’s victory at Coed Helen.
Denbigh seconds set a target of 153-7, opener John Lloyd-Williams making 37, while Monis Altaf took 2-18 for the hosts.
Wicket-keeper Peisley scored 50 exactly as the Cofis reached 154-5 for a 13-2 verdict, Ian Morgan added 30 not out, Simon Williams bagging 2-15 for the visitors.

Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (15) 284-5 Halkyn 2nd XI (0) 56-10

First wicket pair Andy Tilley (119 not out) and Cole Hooson (52) laid the foundations for a huge Quay triumph with an opening stand of 132.
Dylan Wilson made a determined 28 in Halkyn’s paltry response of 56 all out, Rhys Jones 3-26 and Liam Cappiello 2-12.

Gwersyllt Park 2nd XI (2) 82-10 Pwllheli (13) 83-4

Ioan Roberts grabbed 4-11 off eight overs and Kartik Bhardwaj 4-20 as Gwersyllt Park seconds were dismissed for just 82, Neil Green a defiant 32.
Pwllheli eased to a six-wicket win, reaching 83-4 in 16.5, Daniel Pigott 47 not out.

Mold 2nd XI (15) 287-8 Conwy 2nd XI (0) 169-9

Skipper Chris Boulton hit 103, Rhys G Hughes 64 and Craig Roberts 54 as Mold seconds amassed a mammoth score of 287-8 at Chester Road.
Lewis Jones snaffled 4-34 and Ben Callow 3-38 for the visitors, who made a spirited effort in reply but were unable to secure a point.
Opener Jawad Afzal made 93 out of Conwy’s 169-9, Daniel Drew 3-24 and Keith Embleton 2-25 for the dominant hosts.

Ruthin (12) 158-6 Buckley 2nd XI (3) 157-5

Put into bat, Buckley seconds compiled a decent total of 157-5 off their 40 overs, Adam Smith 32 and Jack Gibson 31.
Ruthin got the victory, though, Murray Whitehead topping the chart with 52 in their response of 158-6 in 36.1, Adam Smith an impressive 4-25 for the visitors.
