Sri Lankan spin king Dulanjala Mendis made it back-to-back seven-wicket hauls for Colwyn Bay in Saturday’s win over Lytham.
Having scooped 7-42 against Liverpool the previous weekend, slow left-armer Mendis picked up 7-65 in a six-wicket success at Penrhyn Avenue.
Put into bat, Lytham were bowled out for 159 in 58.4 overs, opener Myles Child standing out with 72.
Paul Jenkins backed up Mendis’ septet with 2-41.
In reply, Bay made it to 162-4 in 37.4, Will Evans 40, Sion Morris 29 and skipper George Johansen 27 not out, to complete a 20-4 points triumph.
Nathan Roett grabbed 5-34 and Nawid Mohammed Kabir 4-5 as Northop Hall rolled over Whitefield for just 81 after putting their opponents in at Court Hey Park.
Hall were in trouble at 40-5 in reply, but skipper Ben Slater (29 not out) and Andrew Watkin (21 no) put on an unbroken stand of 45 for the sixth wicket to seal the match.
Idrees Afridi took all five away wickets to fall for 29 runs, but Hall claimed the points 20-2.
David Harris (39) and Gareth Leonard (30) were the only significant contributors in Prestatyn’s vulnerable-looking total of 127 after being inserted by the visitors.
Matthew White pocketed 5-38 for the away side, who eased to a winning 130-3 in reply, Ben Hughes 2-28 for the hosts.
Bay seconds fell to a heavy defeat at Lytham, Ross Hudson top-scoring with 47 in a weak away effort of 109 all out.
The hosts coasted to 110-2 in just 23.1 overs in response.
The North Wales derby could hardly have gone more convincingly in Northop Hall seconds’ favour.
Invited to bat, Prestatyn were blitzed out for a mere 38 in 19.3 overs, Matthew Edwards snaring 6-9 in seven over, Sion Hellen 2-5.
Hall then breezed to 39-1 off 14.1, Tom Hellen 24 not out.
