Has anyone except DSJ scored in nine games on the trot for Holyhead Hotspur before? We know of one player who has….

Statisticians associated with Holyhead Hotspur FC may be getting busy as we speak.
Not only has one of their players scored in nine successive games, the team itself is also on a long undefeated run.
After Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Saltney Town, Hotspur made it 15 matches in all competitions without defeat and seven successive league victories.
And young striker Dylan Summers-Jones, 21, found the net for a ninth game in a row, making it 22 goals in all for the season.
He is the second highest marksman in Tier 3 Ardal North West with 19 goals.
Former Bangor 1876 and Llangefni Town man Summers-Jones has scored in every game in which he has represented Hotspur since March 2.
His record is:
Mar 2: Saltney Town – 1 goal (won 8-0)
Mar 9: Hawarden Rangers – 1 goal (drew 1-1)
Mar 12: Llangefni Town – 1 goal (drew 1-1)
Mar 23: Llannefydd – 1 goal (won 2-1)
Mar 30: Brickfield Rangers – 2 goals (won 6-1)
Apr 3: Nantlle Vale – 1 goal (won 4-0)
Apr 13: Hawarden Rangers – 1 goal (won 4-1)
Apr 17: Conwy Borough – 1 goal (won 3-0)
Apr 20: Saltney Town – 1 goal (won 2-0)
That makes it 10 goals in his last nine games. No wonder he was named Cymru North Player of February/March.
People may be asking has a Holyhead Hotspur player ever scored in nine successive games before? And what is the club’s longest unbeaten/winning streak?
We can reveal that MEL McGINNESS scored in nine matches in a row in Hotspur’s 2011-12 treble-winning season, when he hit 49 for the first team in all.

This is how he did it….
Mar 04, 2012 – Llanrwst United (FAW SF) 3-1 (Mel McGinness 3)
Feb 25, 2012 – Pwllheli (a-lge) 3-0 (Mel McGinness 3, 1 pen)
Feb 22, 2012 – Caernarfon Wanderers (h-lge) 5-1 (Mel McGinness 2)
Feb 18, 2012 – Llanrug United (h-BC) 2-1 (Mel McGinness 1)
Feb 11, 2012 – Denbigh Town (a-FAW) 5-0 (Mel McGinness 1)
Feb 04, 2012 – Llandudno Junction (h-lge) 3-1 (Mel McGinness 2)
Jan 28, 2012 – Nefyn United (a-lge) 1-2 (Mel McGinness 1)
Jan 18, 2012 – Llanllyfni (h-BC) 3-0 (Mel McGinness 2)
Jan 14, 2012 – Llanrug United (a-FAW) 3-2 (Mel McGinness 2)
That was 17 goals in 9 games at Tier 3 level.
Otherwise, we don’t know of anyone else, although the likes of prolific marksmen Chris Jenkins or Nigel Moore could well have equalled or bettered Dylan and Mel’s achievement in the past.
Back in the 1990’s, Hotspur were totally dominant in spells in the Anglesey, Gwynedd and Welsh Alliance leagues, scoring bagfuls of goals, so all sorts of records could have been set then.
In 2011-12, Hotspur won 14 matches in a row in all competitions between Aug 20, 2011 and Nov 5, 2011, when they went down 5-2 to higher league Buckley Town in the Welsh Cup. That run included nine league wins on the bounce.
However, whatever history holds for a club formed back in 1990, Dylan Summers-Jones’ consistency at Tier 3 in 2023-24 is up there with the best of them.
