Amazing news for Llandudno Ladies! Now there is one more big hurdle to clear for promotion
Llandudno Ladies have done it! They have WON their appeal against the FAW’s refusal to grant them a Tier 1 Licence.
Now there is one more big hurdle for the Seasiders to overcome if they are to compete in the Adran Premier next season.
Llandudno and Adran South champions Briton Ferry Llansawel. will go head-to-head on Sunday, April 21, at Latham Park, Newtown, in the Genero Adran Leagues Promotion Play-Off, kick off 4 pm. Winner takes all.
Tudno were recently crowned Adran North champions for a second time in three seasons, winning 13 of their 14 matches, netting 80 goals, and finishing six points clear of runners-up Connah’s Quay Nomads.
Llandudno’s chances of going up were in doubt when their initial application for the Tier 1 Licence was rejected by the FAW’s First Instance Body.
However, the club’s appeal was successful so they will now go all out for a top-flight return in 11 days time.
Llandudno have spent more time in the national league than any other North Wales club since it was formed in 2009-10.
After three seasons of being regionalised, the competition went fully national in 2012-13 and Tudno remained there for seven full seasons before resigning in 2019-20 due to the heavy demands of being the sole northern team playing in a national league.
Llandudno regrouped and won the inaugural Tier 2 Adran North title in 2021-22.
After finishing third last season, they bounced back to be crowned 2023-24 champions.
TODAY’S STATEMENT FROM THE FAW
The Appeals Body met today (10 April) to assess and consider the appeals submitted as a result of the First Instance Body decisions made for the UEFA & Tier 1 Women’s Club Licence on 27 March 2024.
The FAW received one appeal from Llandudno FC who were refused their Tier 1 Women’s Club Licence.
Llandudno FC were successful in their appeal and have been granted their Tier 1 Licence for the 2024/25 season.
As a result, this concludes the UEFA & Tier 1 Women’s Club Licensing cycle for participation in UEFA & Tier 1 Women’s competitions for the 2024/25 season.
