Genero Adran North: Felinheli and Bangor share spoils in league season closer

Both Felinheli and Bangor rounded off respective league seasons both could feel proud of with a point apiece.

Felin ended up third in the table, having lost just three of their 14 matches, while in their first campaign at this level, Bangor achieved their chief onjective of retaining Tier 2 status.

Aron Griffith’s side also ended the season with two great away results at top-four teams – 0-0 at CPD Y Rhyl 1879 and 1-1 at Felinheli.

Fflur Williams gave Felin a sixth-minute lead at Treborth with her 13th goal of the season. Running through on goal, her first effort ballooned up off advancing keeper Rebecca Elliott, but Williams was able to score at the second attempt.

Bangor levelled when just past the hour when 16-year-old Georgia Lewis, named in the Genero Team of the Week after her performance at Rhyl seven days earlier, netted her first goal for the team from a Cerys Macdonald assist.

Felin were again missing key players and had just 12 available, whereas Bangor travelled the short distance to Treborth with a 16-woman squad.

Bangor manager Griffith said: “In my honest opinion it was a tale of two halves – we were poor in the first half, couldn’t get our bearings together, but in the second half we gained the confidence to play more and created a lot. It was nice to gain a point away to Felin, who are having a brilliant season.

“It’s been a massive pleasure working alongside the girls this season. Hopefully we can carry it on for the seasons ahead. It’s all down to the girls for their continuous hard work – the future is bright at Bangor “
