Brilliant Bowe bags hat-trick as champions Pwllheli record the perfect 10

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S LEAGUE WEST – APRIL 7, 2024

CPD Pwllheli 8 (Bowe 3, M Hughes 2, J Owen-Hughes 2, Sansome)
Trearddur Bay 0
Katie Bowe’s magical hat-trick provided the perfect final chapter of a glorious story which has seen Pwllheli crowned league champions with an immaculate run of 10 straight wins.
The Llŷn Peninsula side ended 2023-24 top of the North Wales Women’s League West Division with a spotless 100% record.
And leading the way was midfield ace Bowe, who returned to the team earlier this year after becoming a mother for the first time and notched her first hat-trick since scoring seven in a game for Mountain Rangers on September 15, 2019.
Scoring trebles was quite a regular occurrence for Bowe in her earlier career for teams such as Caernarfon Town and Llandudno, but this was her first for Pwllheli.
With the league title in the bag, Pwllheli will now pursue a team treble as there is still the all-North Wales League play-off against East champions Flint Town United, plus the Betty Pickiering Cup – at the quarter-final stage – to come.
Sunday’s game at The Rec provided the perfect opportunity for Pwll to add the icing on a faultless cake and they certainly took it.
In just the third minute, Sian Moore crossed into the box and Magi Hughes set up Jini Owen-Hughes to find the bottom corner.
Magi Hughes made it 2-0 on six minutes via a strong shot, then Bowe bagged her first – a strike over the keeper from the edge of the box into the top corner.
Bowe’s second on 21 minutes to make it 4-0 saw her receive the ball from Stacey Sansome and turn to fire in from about 18 yards.
Sansome added a fifth with 31 gone from a Bess Roberts assist.
Half-time: 5-0
There were no more goals until the closing minutes.
With 87 on the clock, Owen-Hughes claimed the final touch on a Bowe corner to make it 14 league goals and 19 in all this season for the 17-year-old.
Lois Thomas’ cross enabled Magi Hughes to make it seven and Bowe rounded things off in added time with a 20-yard lob over the keeper.
