Exciting new double signing for Amlwch Town FC

Welcome to Amlwch Town: Scott Johnson and Emily Shiel

Two great new ‘off-field’ signings have been announced by Amlwch Town Ladies.

The Ynys Môn club is delighted to welcome Scott Johnson and Emily Shiel to Lon Bach.

Scott, who recently moved to live in the town, has over 20 years experience in coaching and managing football.

He has previously worked in both America and the UK coaching and managing girls and women’s soccer.

His last position in the UK was with Bury FC Ladies, who he guided to the Tier 6 North West Women’s Regional Football League Division One North title in 2018-19.

Scott said: “It’s a privilege to be a part of Amlwch Town FC and I hope that my knowledge and experience will benefit this exciting project at Amlwch Town ladies.

“My philosophy is to play a quick, forward-thinking passing game. I also value the importance of creating a positive mindset that allows players to express themselves and enjoy their football in a hard-working and confident environment.”

He added: “I have also worked as an opposition analyst for Scout7 club scouting service and helped the development of men’s and women’s teams for various clubs in non-league, semi-pro and pro football in the UK.”

Emily has been a registered physiotherapist since 1997. She has worked in the UK, USA and spent 20 years at a private practice in Australia .

She is also a titled physiotherapist with a masters degree in Women’s Health; and enjoys working with men, women and children at all levels of sport.

Emily explained: “I’m excited to be living in Amlwch and look forward to being involved with the Amlwch Town ladies team.

“I’m also a registered paramedic working within the Ynys Môn and North Gwynedd area. On a personal level, in my younger years I competed professionally in cycling and represented England.

“These days I love trail running, swimming and scuba diving and I look forward to exploring in and around my new home.”

Emily previously worked with a professional basketball team in the UK as well as various running and athletics clubs in Australia.

She is passionate about effective research-based stretching and myofascial release as part of a well rounded approach to player fitness. She also enjoys teaching core stability as part of an injury prevention and injury management strategy with athletes and players of all ages.

Amlwch Town chairman, Owain Hughes, said, “We’re delighted to welcome Scott and Emily to the club. They’re vastly experienced in their respective fields and will, undoubtedly, both prove to be valuable additions to the existing ladies set-up, joining with coach Dave Jones.”
