NWCFA PREMIER DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
Kinmel Bay Development 5 Penmaenmawr Phoenix Dev 1
Bay’s first league game since the split saw them deliver a resounding victory.
The hosts went ahead inside 5 minutes when Harry Woodfine won the ball back from the Pen defence and played in Nyal Hughes to make it 1-0.
It was 2-0 on 23 minutes, Woodfine this time the scorer with a effort from outside the box beating the keeper well.
Kinmel were put under some pressure late in the first half with Pen having several corners, but the home side defended well and the first half finished 2-0.
Bay started the second half quickly too and on 48 minutes were awarded a penalty that was scored by Mark Hughes to make it 3-0.

Pen got a goal back on 51 after a shot was initially saved well by Paddy Hamid, but Cory Lundstram tapped home the rebound.
Five minutes later Bay restored their three-goal lead, Lewie Foston hitting the post and Nyal Hughes following in for his second of the game.
Billy Sieben was sent off for Pen on 80 minutes and the game was put to bed with 85 on the clock, substitute Ryan Fleming scoring from a Nathaniel Gibbs assist.

Trearddur Bay Development 5 Bow Reserves 4

A nine-goal thriller ended up in favour of the Anglesey hosts.
Cameron Buckley (2, 1 pen), James Leatherbarrow, Noel Owen and Harri Hughes provided the home goals, Richard Hill, Joshua Lally, Cameron Vaughan and Jenson Wold replying for Prestatyn-based visitors Bow.
Trearddur manager Scott Hakesley gave his verdict on the game.
He said: “After not playing a competitive game since 28th January our main worry was starting slow. How wrong I was! The lads were clearly hungry to get going from the first whistle.
“A Luke Jones free kick into the box found Jake Davies rising highest to nod down for Cameron Buckley to score the opener.
“The next 30 minutes saw us playing nice football, going close a couple of times but to no success.
“Then completely against the run of play and maybe getting too relaxed, we gifted Bow two quick goals and found ourselves trailing at the break 2-1
“Half time team talk was all positives as we knew we had the game in our control.

“We started the second half same as the first, on the front foot causing problems, when Cameron Buckley was brought down for a penalty he dispatched himself for 2-2.
“The next 10 minutes saw us linking the play very well, James Leatherbarrow and Noel Owen both getting deserved goals to make it 4-2
“The game settled down and changes from both teams stopped the flow.
“On the hour mark we introduced new signing Harri Hughes, who started where James left off, causing problems and taking his goal very well.
“But the same as the first half we allowed two dubious goals in the last five minutes to make it a nervous ending. 5-4 end result, but in my opinion a very one sided game and how this ended 5-4 is beyond me.
“The progression from all is clear to see and a bright future for many. Myself and the club are very proud.”

Bow player Barry Roche said: “It was always going to be tough travelling to the island, especially that far. The lads were on about going to visit South Stack because the chance might not happen again.
“Credit where credit is due, Trearddur Bay are a well drilled team and with Asa (Thomas – 700 career goal legend) on board, it was a relief to hear he wasn’t playing, but coaching.
“Eighty fans or more for the home team didn’t help us at all from the start. We went 1-0 down through some lovely football from Bay.
“A mistake from their goalkeeper resulting in a Richard Hill goal and a wonderous strike from Josh Lally put us 2-1 up at the break and we did not deserve any of it.
“We found ourselves losing 3-2 soon after the break. Josh Tambs giving a penalty away and being sent for an early bath. We went 5-2 down, but the lads never gave up and battled to go home with a 5-4 loss.
“Credit to the management of Trearddur Bay for coming to speak to our lads after the game and also the hospitality afterward in which a round was bought for our team by them – brilliant day all round.”

Matthew Roberts’ 87th minute goal won this close contest for Llanrug.
