North Wales Women’s League East – eight-goal Denbigh favourites for second place

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S LEAGUE EAST

Bellevue 0
Denbigh Town 8
Report: Ollie Beech
Denbigh made themselves favourites to finish runners-up in the East division after a thumping win at Wrexham side Bellevue last Sunday.
A Catrin Davies hat-trick, braces from Ceri Purvis and debutant Ella Roberts and a strike from Beth Kell rounded off a superb win at Court Road.
Town arrived with a depleted squad with no substitutes and knew they would have to battle out for 90 minutes against a Bellevue side looking for their third win of the campaign.
Tia Adler, also signed this week, started at the back whilst Carla Rizzi took the armband. Manager Ellen Lawson also played out 90 minutes.
The game couldn’t have started any better for Town though, as veteran markswoman Purvis put Denbigh ahead with less than a minute on the clock.
Within three minutes Denbigh doubled their lead. Ella Roberts had signed just 48 hours previous and marked her return to the game with a superb goal to get her Town career off to a bang.
Things settled after the frantic start before Davies hit the first of three on a sensational afternoon for the 26-year-old who has been in good form since returning to the side at the beginning of 2024.
Just before the break Town made it a quartet of strikes as Kell netted her 14th goal in 14 games for Denbigh in a breakout year for the youngster.
Half-Time: Bellevue Women 0-4 Denbigh Town Ladies
It was more of the same in the second period as Town looked to apply more pressure to the hosts and they found two early goals in the half. First off Davies grabbed her second within two minutes of the re-start before Roberts marked a fine debut with a pair of her own.
Bellevue, much like the first half, held on after a difficult start but couldn’t keep Denbigh at bay at the death.
Purvis netted once more on 83 to make it 24 goals this season before Davies completed her treble with just a minute left to play.
