North Wales Coast West League: Magic from Marquis lights up Llanfairpwll

Marquis Holland scored one of the goals of the season for Llanfairpwll

NORTH WALES COAST WEST LEAGUE – MARCH 9

Division One

Llanfairpwll 3 CPD Mountain Rangers 0

What is surely one of the goals of the season in North Wales football lit up Maes Eilian on a dull Saturday afternoon.

Llanfairpwll’s top-scorer Marquis Holland hit a thunderous right-foot volley from distance which gave goalkeeper Darryl Edwards no chance. It was pure Marco Van Basten like in its instinct, technique and execution.

Holland scored another goal to make it 11 for the season, while Gethin Owen was also on target for the NWCFA Junior Cup finalists, who made it three wins in their last four matches.

Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 0 Bethesda Rovers 2

Six league wins in a row for Bethesda Rovers, who sit a proud fourth in the Division One table after Saturday’s win at Cae Clyd.

Leon Owen made the breakthrough on 43 minutes before Reece Williams added a crucial second after 82.

Bontnewydd 5 Llangoed and District 0

Five-goal Bont made it 14 unbeaten with a convincing success over Llangoed at Cae Stanley.

Osian Glyn and Shaun Roberts netted two apiece for the leaders, Luke Phillips also on the mark.

CPD Gaerwen 3 CPD Boded 3

Two points dropped for Boded in the title race, although the villagers stay undefeated in the league this season.

A pair of Cian Owen goals put Boded two-up inside the first half-four, but Keiran Williams hit back for Gaerwen before the break.

Keenan Latham made it two-apiece on 54 and the Auctioneers completed the turnaround when Robert Boyes edged them ahead from a Nathan Moore assist after 70.

Boded were not finished and a Casey Boylan penalty on 74 minutes rescued them a point. They are, like Bontnewydd, without a loss in 14 games, but the islanders have six points less.

Holyhead Town 3 CPD Cefni 2

Craig Moore, Paul Williams and Andy Will delivered the goals which brought about a great win for Town, Henry Caldecott and Andy Williams replying for Cefni.

Both sides had a player red-carded.

Llanystumdwy 1 Caergybi 0

Just a single goal separated the sides at Parc Dwyfor – and it came inside the first minute from Tomos Williams.

Connor Owen struck twice for Gwalchmai to edge up to 20 goals for the season in a 3-0 success at Cae Cynlas.

Minus top-scorer Kaine Bentley, Gwalch had the game won by half time, Andrew Jones putting them one-up after six minutes before 18-year-old Owen netted on 20 and 42.

Assists were provided by Marc Evans, keeper Caron Hughes and Sam Jones.

Gwalchmai are third in the table and still well in the title race, just a point behind leaders Trearddur Bay, although they have played three games more.

CPD Llanberis 3 Llanrug United 0

Cracking win for Llanberis in Saturday’s local derby at Ffordd Padarn.

Kurt Hellfeld bagged a brace for the Darans on 67 and 90+4 minutes, Ifan Mansoor adding a single with 70 gone.

CPD Mynydd Llandegai 4 Amlwch Town 1

An early Chris Byast own goal set Llandegai on their way to victory, Huw Davies, Alwyn Roberts and David Hayes all netting before half time.

A red card for Ben Parker on the hour didn’t affect the hosts too badly, the visitors only managing the one consolation goal through Byast.

CPD Nefyn United 2 Trearddur Bay 5

This match was reported on in detail by Grassroots North Wales over the weekend.

Dan Roberts and Rhys Williams found the net for Nefyn, but Trearddur made it 40 league matches unbeaten thanks to goals from Asa Thomas (2), Casey Gregg, Morgan Rowlands and Matt Reynolds (pen),

CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 2 Glantraeth 3

A week after stunning Trearddur Bay in the NWCFA Intermediate Cup semi-final, Penrhyn crashed at home in the league to Glantraeth.

Tom Hughes and Alun Hughes were the home marksmen, Dylan Williams (2, 1 pen) and Gethin Davies winning it for the Anglesey travellers.

Talysarn Celts 7 CPD Pentraeth 2

Luke Baum was a four-goal hero for Talysarn in an emphatic victory over Pentraeth.

Garem Davies (2) and Josh Williams added the others for Celts, Kian Abbott and Dylan Jones responding for the visitors, who had Ashley Davies red-carded on 90+2.
