At the 21st attempt Wrexham side Skippy have won their very first league match.
Their 20 previous games in the North East Wales League Championship had all ended in defeat with 153 goals conceded.
They had won a Two Counties Cup tie 8-3 against Johnstown back in September, but that all-important first league success had eluded them – till Saturday.
Skippy not only triumphed 3-0 at Bellevue, they also lifted themselves off the bottom of the table, as well as keeping their first-ever clean sheet.
In a previous meeting in January, Bellevue had recorded their own first – and to date only – victory of the campaign with a 6-3 verdict at Skippy’s Bronwen Green ground in Brymbo.
Saturday saw Skippy gain revenge, Bobby Gregory putting them ahead in the 24th minute from a James Jones assist.
The lead was doubled on 36 minutes, Mthulisi Ndlovu with the goal and Jones again laying on the chance.
David Hughes made it 3-0 on the hour, and that was game, set and match to Skippy.
Skippy were formed in 2022 and joined the North East Wales Football League this season.
