How the North East Wales Football League is set to line up in 2023-24

Plas Madoc have a short but successful history in North Wales football

Plenty of new names will take to the field when the North East Wales Football League kicks off later this summer.

Fresh starters in the tier 4 and 5 league will include CPD Yr Wyddgrug (Mold) and Wrexham-based Skippy FC, while there is a welcome return for Plas Madoc.

From Cefn Mawr, Wrexham, Plas Madoc previously formed in 2017-18 and won the former North East Wales League in their first season.

They followed up by finishing top of the old Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) Division One in 2018-19 without tasting a single defeat.

In the shortened 2019-20 campaign, Plas ended up 12th in the WNL Premier Division.

When football returned in 2021-22 after the 2020-21 campaign was cancelled due to the pandemic, Madoc were no more. The club will be known as FC Plas Madoc in 2023-24.

Meanwhile, CPD Sychdyn have folded as the set up has gone to Rhydymwyn, who return to football in the tier 5 Championship Division.

Coming down from tier 3 into the North East Wales Premier Division are the illustrious names of Corwen and Rhostyllen.

These are the current line-ups as they stand, but there may be changes in the coming weeks.
