North East Wales League – Corwen make it 11 out of 11, holders Quay Town reach Premier Cup final

Bottom hosted top but leaders Corwen were given a tough battle by basement boys Ruabon for a third time this season.
Trailing 3-0 in the closing minutes, the home side pulled it back to 3-2 and were pressing for an equaliser before a goal on the counter from the table-toppers made it 11 wins from 11 matches for them.
Chances fell at both ends before the visitors broke through in the 36th minute.
From a lightning quick attack, debutant Matthew Gilsenan played in Owen Cordiner, who saw off the challenge of a defender before placing the ball home.
Corwen doubled their advantage in the 53rd minute, as Alex Webster’s corner almost went straight into the back of the net. Keeper Andrew Parry fumbled the ball before it went in.
In the 61st minute Webster was on dead-ball duties again and brilliantly curled his attempt beyond Parry into the far corner of the net.
With 10 minutes to play, Gilsenan fed Tom Williams, whose shot had Parry beaten, but hit the underside of the bar and went away from goal.
Rovers pulled one back with 82 on the clock.
A long ball forward from James Jones allowed Andrew Swarbrick to get through on goal and force Evan Parry to come sprinting from his line.
The Ruabon number eight won the race and headed the ball beyond the Corwen number one.
On 85, Ruabon had reduced the deficit to one goal as after a quick attack the ball was crossed by James Jones to Swarbrick, who slotted home.
Rovers looked for an equaliser in the third minute of stoppage time, but Cordiner won the ball back from a throw in deep in the Corwen half.
He then went on a long run before crossing to Tom Mann, who was taken out by Parry in what would have been a certain penalty if the ball didn’t run through to Tom Williams, who found the unguarded net to seal the victory.

Adam Lloyd’s 50th minute penalty earned Coedpoeth a point and stretched their unbeaten run to five matches.
Daniel Woosey had edged Casty in front after 33 minutes.
Greenfield 4 Lex XI 2
A good win sees Greenfield up to fourth, Sam Edwards, Bailey Roberts, captain Darren Johns and Ryan Jones sharing their goals.
Kian Davies and sub Kieron Jones responded for Lex, who had Joshua Phillips red-carded on 79 minutes.

Ryan Jakovlevs moved up to 24 goals for the season with a double for the leaders at Johnstown on Saturday.
Josh Hughes was also on the mark for Plas, while the hosts had substitute Dwayne Jones sent off for a second yellow card on 80 minutes.

Joe Mitchell, Dylan Williams, Owen Pilson, Harvey Hammersley and Liam Prytherch (2) combined to deliver six goals for winners Sychdyn, Skippy’s responses coming via David Hughes and Bobby Gregory.
RESERVES DIVISION
Connah’s Quay Town 2 Penyffordd Lions 5
Matthew Holmes and Nath Lavender netted two apiece for a Penyffordd outfit which triumphed on the road against the bottom side, Coby Peters adding a single.
Kai Hardcastle and Jack Collins replied.
Greenfield 3 Castell Alun Colts 2
Pleasing result for next-to-bottom Greenfield Reserves, James Adamson (2) and Owen Jeffery delivering the home goals, Robert Parcesepe and Reece Jones the Casty hitmen.

Alister Randles and Marcus Davies were on target as Penyffordd advanced to the Premier Cup final, where a meeting with Connah’s Quay Town awaits.
FC Queen’s Park 1 Connah’s Quay Town 3
Extra time was required for holders Connah’s Quay Town to progress to the Premier Cup final at the expense of Queen’s Park.
Owen Edwards gave Town a 63rd minute lead before Mikey Latham equalised on 82 to force an added half-hour.
And it was Quay who emerged triumphant, Shay Davies and Pascal Gomez bagging the crucial goals on 116 and 118 minutes.
TWO COUNTIES CUP SEMI-FINAL
Yr Wyddgrug 4 Aston Park Rangers 6
Adam Randles (2), Elliott Evans, Jonny Crossley (2) and Djimitri Carter produced the goals between them which guided Aston Park into the Two Counties Cup final.
Yr Wyddgrug led twice in the tie and gave it a good go, Gethin Thomas (2), Liam Mortimer and David Jones their marksmen.
THE RESERVE CUP SEMI-FINAL
Caerwys 0 Coedpoeth United 3
A fourth win on the bounce in February sent Coedpoeth United into the Reserve Cup final, where either Mynydd Isa Reserves or FC Queen’s Park Reserves await.
Xavi Morgan, the evergreen Kevin Breeze and Aaron Taylor (penalty) all scored in the first half to secure victory over Caerwys for Carl Partington’s side.
