Who are the goal kings of North Wales men’s senior football in 2023-24?

Leading the way with a phenomenal 48 goals in just 22 appearances is CPD Y Glannau’s prolific net-buster Harrison Bellis, who hit five in his team’s stunning 8-1 NWCFA Junior Challenge Cup semi-final victory over Bow on Saturday.

Here are the current top six hitmen in North Wales this season to date.

30 goals were needed to qualify for inclusion in this article.

1 Harrison Bellis (Y Glannau) 48 goals
(32 league, 16 cups – 22 appearances)

The 22-year-old was second-highest marksman in North Wales last season with 62 – only Trearddur Bay magician Asa Thomas finished ahead of him on a spellbinding 75.

This season, Harrison is well poised to not only beat last season’s total, but also to finish North Wales No1.

Earlier this season, Bang ’em in Bellis reached 100 goals for Y Glannau in just his 51st appearance for the club he joined in October 2021.

2 Sam Giles (Acton) 44 goals
(34 league, 10 cups – 21 appearances)

Giles gets piles – of goals.

This man is the Bellis of the North East Wales League Championship – the tier 5 equivalent to North Wales Coast East Division One, where Y Glannau operate.

Sam’s Acton FC have amassed 111 goals in 18 league matches, admittedly in a division where there are one or two weaker teams in development.

Giles has already beaten last year’s tally of 39 goals. He’s a machine.

3 Asa Thomas (Trearddur Bay) – 36 goals
(29 league, 7 cups – 21 appearances)

This king of the net-finders is approaching 700 career goals, a total no-one else is believed to have ever reached in North Wales football.

If anyone knows of any past player who did, please inform us.

Asa was North Wales’ leading scorer last season with 75, and although his Trearddur Bay team have risen to Tier 4 this term – they have still yet to lose a league game – The Ace is still dealing all the right cards in the goal-getting department.

Still just 32, Asa has enough time to set a goals tally which will surely never be beaten.

4 Jamie McDaid (Llanrug United) – 32 goals
(25 league, 7 cups – 19 appearances)

This amazing performer is causing a storm in the Tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division this season.

His 25 league goals even have him ahead of Asa Thomas in the division standings! While Asa has hit 29 in league matches, six of them came for Trearddur’s Development League side, his Premier haul being 23.

Still just 29 years old, McDaid has hit some lofty heights in his career, including playing in the Welsh Premier and featuring in the Europa League with Bangor City.

5 Harry Massey (Overton Recreational) – 31 goals
(23 league, 8 cups – 19 appearances)

Alongside Overton’s much improved form in the North East Wales League Championship Division this season has been the goalscoring exploits of the relentless Massey.

He’s put away 31 in all competitions, 23 in the league. Harry has bagged a double hat-trick and two quadruples to date.

Massey proved he knew where the goal was last term when knocking in 25 goals. He has already handsomely topped that figure.

6 Gerwyn Williams (Dolgellau AA) – 30 goals
(24 league, 6 cups – 22 appearances)

What a tremendous season it has been so far for this young striker.

His 30 goals in all competitions for Dolgellau make him the leading scorer in the top three tiers across leagues/divisions affecting North Wales clubs (ie – Cymru Premier, Cymru North and Ardal North East and West).

Dolgellau are going really well in third spot in Ardal North East and Gerwyn has been remarkably consistent, netting in 18 of his 22 games.

BUBBLING UNDER…..

Bangor 1876’s magnificent Corrig McGonigle is top-scorer in the Tier 2 Cymru North on 22 league goals and has 25 in all competitions.

Nantlle Vale Reserves are running away with the FAW Cymru Reserves North Tier 3 league and Llion Griffiths is having a stunning season with 25 goals to date from 20 outings.

Plenty more quality marksman are in the 20 and over goal category as well. Stay tuned net pickers!
