NORTH EAST WALES VETERANS LEAGUE REPORTS

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 4

Premier Division

Brickfield Rangers Vets 1 Ruthin Town Vets 7

The only team still with a 100 percent record in the North East Wales Veterans League made it six straight wins in some style on Sunday.

Ruthin hit seven past Brickfield Rangers at Clywedog Park, but the visitors conceded the first goal when Lee Williams edged the Wrexham hosts in front after five minutes.

Emyr Jones levelled on 20 minutes, Daniel Porter soon nudged the visitors into the lead and a Tom Sharples double before the break made it 4-1 at the halfway stage.

Sharples completed his hat-trick in the 64th minute, while Kevin Evans and Dafydd Jones also found the target in the second period.

Hawarden Rangers Vets 4 FC Queen’s Park Vets 1

Alan Huxley gave the Park a ninth-minute lead at the Gladstone Playing Fields, but that was as good as it got for the visitors.

Stephen Hopkins made it 1-1 after 24 minutes, Matthew Phillips and James Mcmanus adding further strikes for Hawarden before the turnaround.

Hopkins notched a 53rd minute penalty to seal a home win, Mark Roberts receiving a red card for the visitors after 62.

Championship Division

Denbigh Wanderers Vets 3 Mochdre Vets 1

Wanderers closed the gap on leaders Llay Welfare to four points with a game in hand after Sunday’s win over Mochdre.

Adam Gage struck first for Denbigh on four minutes before Geraint Jones added a second from the penalty spot after 26.

Luke O’Mahoney pulled one back for Mochdre on 70, but a Duncan Midgley goal three minutes from time sealed a home triumph.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3

Premier Division

Rhydymwyn Vets 4 Mynydd Isa Veterans 3

A close-run thing at the Mornflake Mighty Oats Ground went Rhydymwyn’s way.

Anthony Wearden, Karl Bacon (penalty), Dave Pitson and Chris Geary were the home hitmen, Mark Weir with a double and Wes Brewerton (pen) supplying Mynydd Isa’s replies.

Championship

Deeside Dragons Vets 5 White Bear Vets 1

The Dragons breathed fire at the Connah’s Quay High School 4G and took the three points with a five-goal salvo.

Ash Lewis delivered a first-half pair to put Deeside in command.

Leigh Morris made it 3-0 after 51 minutes before Matthew Dixon hit back on 53.

Adam Lawrence grabbed number four for the Dragons and Karl Jones added another0.

Colin Pugh was red-carded for the home side with 70 on the clock.
