After losing narrowly to mighty leaders Flint the weekend before, Kinmel Bay really deserved a good result to boost their season and it came on Sunday as they triumphed 2-1 at Northop Hall.
Bay took a 15th minute lead through an own goal.
Skipper Seren Williams worked her way to the corner, crossed into the 18 yard box and the ball deflected off Hall defender Daisy Allen into the back of the net.
It remained 1-0 until the 40th minute when Hannah Williams made it one-apiece.
Bay were much improved in the second half and created a number of opportunities.
It was no more than they merited when a winner came on 83 minutes.
A long pass was delivered by Sarah Williams at the back which deflected off one of the Northop players to Seren Williams.
The captain pulled the ball under control, took a touch and then fired a fierce shot beyond keeper Bethan Hughes for 2-1.
Player of the Match was Kinmel’s stand-in keeper Alys Marsh-Hughes. She stepped in goal due to regular stopper Shelby Wild being unable to play.
Alys made some cracking saves. Bay all defended really well and could have won by more than 2-1 in the end, based on second half chances.
Kinmel Bay are now up to second in the table, while Northop Hall remain fourth.
