Bangor City 1876 reached 200 GOALS in all competitions this season during Saturday’s cup success over visitors Knighton.
With the Ardal North West League title already in the bag, 1876 now have two end-of-season cup finals to look forward to.
On Saturday, the Citizens booked a meeting with Ardal North East champions Llanuwchllyn in the Ardal North League Cup Final after a comfortable 5-0 win over Knighton in the semi at Bangor City Stadium.
Before that, Michael Johnston’s men will take on Pontardawe Town in the Dragon Signs FAW Amateur Trophy Final next Saturday, April 25.
On a run of eight straight victories in all competitions heading into Saturday’s clash with Ardal NE outfit Knighton, 1876 took a 10th minute lead when Josh Carey’s shot was blocked, but arrived at the feet of top-scorer Corrig McGonigle, who fired in the opener.
The hosts went close on further occasions before doubling their total in the 34th minute.
Carey sent a superb outside-of-the-foot pass to McGonigle, who finished clinically again for his 43rd goal of the campaign.
It was also 1876’s 200th goal of 2025-26 in league and cup.
Seven minutes into the second half, the home side put one foot firmly in the final with goal number three.
Declan McManus slipped the ball into the area for Carey, who applied a calm and composed finish – his 19th goal this term.
Only a tremendous save by Ben Davies soon after denied Carey a second goal.
Home fans did not have to wait long for another Bangor goal. McGonigle won the ball in the air, heading down for McManus to knock in his 18th goal in 16 appearances for the blues.
Sub Sam Jones made an almost instant impact, finding the net with 64 on the clock, a mere two minutes after coming off the bench to make it 5-0.
This was Bangor City 1876 at their ruthless best again – – from 46 games in all competitions they have won 42, drawn 2, lost 2, netted 203 goals and conceded just 36.
