Happy Haynes is hat-trick hero – and this one counts!

No-one was more deserving of a hat-trick at the weekend than Flint Town United star Jennifer Haynes.

The 22-year-old talent had already scored one treble this season – but had it chalked off!

That was back in October, when she found the net three times in a North Wales Women’s League East game at Welshpool, which was abandoned at half time due to the weather with the Silkwomen leading 6-0.

So justice was done when Connah’s Quay based Jennifer pocketed a trio of goals in Flint’s dazzling 11-2 victory over Denbigh Town.

However, while Sunday’s feat amounted to her first official hat-trick of the season, she has scored one at senior level before.

That was on the first day of the 2019-20 season, when Jennifer was part of a newly-formed Connah’s Quay Nomads side which won 12-0 at fellow debutants Holywell Town in NWWFL Division Two.

Also on target that day were: Candice Nellist 3, Tonicha Dickens 2, Jasmin Dutton, Erin Heathcote, Ellie Sandiford and Rebecca Morris.

Jennifer then added two more in her next game for the Quay in a 6-2 Welsh Cup win at Llanberis.

Nomads famously reached the semi-final that season, knocking out Cymru Premier Port Talbot Town along the way. Their semi against mighty Swansea City never took place due to Covid.

Jennifer joined Flint Town United in March 2023 and the striker/winger has proved to be a great signing for the North Wales East leaders, who enjoy a perfect record of eight games, eight victories.
