Lock, Fleming and Brown would be a great name for a firm of solicitors, but on this evening they were the three Denbigh Town heroes whose goals delivered the right verdict for the hosts at Central Park.

After losing 5-1 at Mold Alexandra in the WBS League Cup semi-final six days earlier, Town needed a tonic and supplied the goods with another three points which strengthened their top six status.

Denbigh manager Dewi Llion handed a full debut to Dion Gibbins, whilst Sion Jones returned to the XI.

There were also places on the bench for Jimmy McHarrie for the first time as well as other new signing Kyle Cooper.

On the nine-minute mark, the hosts found themselves in front, as Paul Fleming fed the ball to Josh Lock inside the box. The young talent drilled an effort into the bottom-left corner.

Though a dominant display from Town, Port did have opportunities. Charley McMillan beat the offside trap and ran through on goal but somehow missed the target.

With half an hour gone, Matthew Worrall did well on the right before squaring to Sion Jones on the edge of the box, but his effort was superbly tipped over by keeper Ollie Farebrother.

Just before the break Fleming and Worrall missed great chances for the home side.

Denbigh began the half in similar fashion to the first by threatening the visitors’ goal, Lock had a low shot saved before a follow-up from Worrall was also denied by Farebrother.

On 51 minutes Worrall was through with only Farebrother to beat, but managed to drag his shot wide.

However, Town would eventually find that all-important second on 54 minutes.

From the left of the box, Ben Lockley played a smart ball to skipper Fleming, who rifled into the roof of the net.

Porthmadog tried to rally. Former Town forward Jacob Barratt stood over a free-kick 25 yards out and shaved the side netting with his effort.

Barratt had another chance on 66 minutes when Gethin Thomas ran through before being denied superbly by keeper Aaron Jones.

With just under 20 minutes to play Porthmadog finally had one back, Danny Brookwell’s corner caused chaos in the box and Nathan Williams bundled in at the back post.

Denbigh now knew they would need another to quash any inkling of a Porthmadog comeback.

Close calls followed for the hosts before eventually the pressure told.

Davies took possession in the middle of the park before spreading a superb ball to Brown. The forward ran on to it and slotted into the bottom left corner to wrap up proceedings,

Town now have a quick turnaround with another match at Central Park on Tuesday against Gresford Athletic.
